Maybe. It's not as if Buddhist zealots don't exist, it's just that most Buddhists understand that salvation or enlightenment or redemption is personal and maybe even transitory.

The world would be a better place if everyone followed a peaceful and enlightening philosophy. That doesn't need to be Buddhism, although it's not a bad fit.

Some of the most selfish, nasty and power hungry back stabbers I've ever met were buddhists.

They seem to think it puts them above everyone else and they prattle on about how they realised through meditation that they have to look after themselves more thoroughly at the expense of others.

If, by Buddhism, you mean the practice of meditation and of visualizations that increase one's self-control and/or compassion, then I would say yes. If, by Buddhism, you mean a process philosophy that sees everything as impermanent and subject to change...and everything as not possessing any kind of permanent, inner entity such as a "self," then I would say "yes." Buddhism, stripped of the more superstitious aspects that characterize religon, is a remarkably healthy philosophy, psychology, and way of life.

It would be better if people would embrace and celebrate each others background and diversity. Whatever it is. Thats one of the things that could make America really great.

What makes you think that Buddhist are any different human beings tha anyone else? They have the same emotions as do you and I and they get mad just like you and I. they commit crimes and are selfish like everybody else.

It might be but maybe not. Consider that certain schools of Zen Buddhism were heavily implicated in Japanese war crimes in WWII.

Everyone is fallible and everyone has blood on their hands.
