A few school teachers (among many religious schoolteachers) are the most outspoken spokesmen for atheists. Is this an example of half-baked incomplete intellectualism claiming to be absolute truth ?

Tut, tut, atheism have different branches of "irreligious" doctrines. It is a natural way to go since the breakup of the Soviet Union as atheists find that here is no permanent way to sell atheism except through a religious doctrine or codex.

There’s no doubt that many humanists consider their ideology a religion. Charles Francis Potter, signer of the Humanist Manifesto and author of Humanism: A New Religion, wrote, “So Humanism is not simply another denomination of Protestant Christianity; it is not a creed; nor is it a cult. It is a new type of religion altogether.”Humanist educator John Dewey, also a signer of the Humanist Manifesto, called for a new humanist religion in his work A Common Faith. For a while this kind of religious humanism flourished in organisations like August Comte's Church of Humanity, where deity was replaced by Man, the Pope by August Comte, and church ritual by naff ceremonies which retained priestly vestments, smells and flowery language

You mean someone is trying to turn atheism into a religious system? I admit some (strong atheists) have a faith I don't understand (the certainty that God and other deities don't exist), but as far as I know, they all reject the practice of religion. Therefore, no doctrine. Of course, atheism can be thought of as a philosophical school of thought. What basis do you have for labelling atheism as "half-baked incomplete intellectualism?" What makes you think that the religious teachers are any more erudite than the atheist teachers? Your argument seems to rest on numbers and then resort to name-calling. Not a good argument.

I really don't know what you are talking about ..I think alot of people whether they have religion or not have serious problems. I personally do not care what is in the pledge to the flag, I don't care where they post the 10 commandments. When I am in a place where they choose to pray to God/Jesus/Allah/ Buddah/etc. before a meal or whatever then I sit quietly and don't pray or bother anyone. If I want to worship my rock collection, then I expect the same courtesy. Just because the 10 commandments are posted does not mean that I have to read them or whatever it is they do with them. Why cant everyone just leave everyone else alone and live in peace?

What ever gave you the idea schoolteachers are spokesmen for atheism? Perhaps a few teachers out there are brave and/or foolish enough to openly express their opinion. They are to be commended, but they are NOT spokesmen. It's painfully obvious you haven't spent much time in a secular classroom. Your question betrays your evil bigotry and serious lack of secular education.

Doctrine? What *are* you on? It's the *lack* of belief in Gods!
Or, strong atheism is the belief there are no Gods.

We don't have an organization, much less a *doctrine*. I note you've been here since Sept. 6, 2006, and you haven't even grasped *that* yet? Jeepers, you're sure swift, there, defOf.

Do you mean - atheisms dependence on true knowledge, instead of an idealistic fib? Your reasoning makes no sense at all. You are an example of why Atheism exists. An Atheist believes in the truth, as it exists, not what they are told without question.

There is no doctrine of atheism. There shouldn't even be a word "atheism." After all do we have words for people who don't believe that Elvis is still alive; or a word for people who don't believe aliens are abducting our cows; or a word for people who don't believe in the tooth fairy? Atheism is nothing more than the noises rational people make in the presence of the delusional.

Again with the generalizations. Christians are so used to only parroting the one line they are incapable of seeing anything else. There is NO atheist doctrine. Honestly you people need to open another book or two, you know, expand your mind.

Religious fanatics are the only ones who claim to know absolute truth. They usually hide their rubbish in trite phrases like the one you put forth here. Is that what you are doing, projecting onto atheists what you hate in yourself? That does makes sense, unfortunately.

What are you talking about? Atheism has no doctrine. The most out-spoken atheists are respected biologists.

A completely random ad hominem attack.

You're too short to even have an opinion on the subject.
