They will only test if they suspect drug use and most drug testing is done with urine for quicker results. If THC shows up the doctor will not report and is not obligated to by law.

No, Doctors are legally required to inform their patients that they are testing for drugs if they are indeed doing a test that will show the presence of drugs in your system. So unless the doctor has actually told your friend that he was testing for drugs, he hasnt done a test in which THC will show up.

Depends on when he got high, and when he did the blood test. If they tested his hair at all, then they would know. Your hair tells exactly what happens to you, until its cut off. If its more than two weeks your friend might have peed it out. Do realize thc shuts down your immune system, and that can spark interest in the doctors for more evidence.

The doctor does tests related to what they want to find out per the complains, signs and symptoms. If drugs effect is suspected, a test will be done. If he took such drug, definitely it will show on the test and will be given due management. The results obtained by the doctor is usually kept confidential but if can cause foreseeable harm to the person, it will be reported to proper authority.

The doctors have to know what to look for in the blood tests, they can't just randomly know about what specific drugs a person uses, just the effects on the body. Your doctor is bound to keep your information confidential unless they are legally made to give up the information which rarely happens. Doctors are there to get you well. You have to be willing to trust them and they know that if they talk to anyone about your treatment they may lose their license. If your boyfriend is honest he will be treated properly and get well faster no matter what.

routine blood tests don't detect thc. they have to be specifically looking for it in a drug screenning test. and even if it turned out positive, medical privacy laws prevent his doctor from "reporting" him to the authorities unless there was some legal reason to do so (ie: he's arrested and being accused of being intoxicated while he crashed his car into somebody)

The doctor will know only if your friend was tested for drugs specifically. Routine blood work does not check for drugs, but may show some signs of drug use.

It depends on what kind of test the doctor is running. If they aren't testing specifically for drugs, then don't worry. I've smoked for years and never had a doctor say anything to me. I've had blood work done....no problems.
