There has been much talk about Don Imus. Some of those who defend him say, "Well, he raised alot of money for children who need it." or "He has that camp for children."
My question is this
Do these deeds allow him to use words like 'ho' or 'nappy headed' or calling an award winning jounalist a 'quota hire' or any of the several things he has said?
Does his good deeds allow him to be able to say racist and sexist remarks.

I don't doubt his charity work comes from his heart, but I also believe the words that he speaks also come from his heart.

I really doubt that. It does not make sense. Would you like it if I stole you new car and gave the same kind of car to someone else two years down the road? Steal all your money, invest it and give the amount I stole to the poor 5 years on? We need to stop the bad deeds and do good deeds only.

I think it depends on the reason for the good deed. If it's done soley to erase the bad deed, then no, but if it comes from the heart, then yes.

Don Imus made a mistake. What he said was crappy and wrong, but I'd really hate to see the good he's done over shadowed by this comment. I've heard that he's made racists comments in the past, but I don't know anything about that. What I do know is that the charity work he did this week is wonderful and has been amazingly successful in the past.

But the only time I heard about the charity work was as a footnote to the comment he made.

I don't know him, I don't judge him. I think it's great that he apologized and I think his charity work is wonderful.

Don has issues I will say that. Everyone should strive toward only good deeds. But we are human and that is very difficult. Don, however, is using his camp as a tax write off so I wouldn't say it is a good deed....more like a wise business move...

The only way to enlightenment is thru knowledge. When we learn more, we question more, we seek others who are learning, and then thru the sharing of that knowledge we can begin to grasp what is real.

Good deeds stand apart from bad, that is good deeds do not cancel out the bad. Bad must be acknowledged, confessed, sincerely apologized, and never repeated before forgiveness is granted.

Never mind he was parroting rap music lyrics trying to be "in", it was still wrong.

Doing a good deed is wonderful but it must be done out of love and a sincere heart. As for misdeeds, it takes repentance, confession and forgiveness.

No good deeds can erase any misdeeds.

You need the old nature murdered Only salvation makes you fit for heaven.

NOT,

doing good deeds.

Yes, good deeds erase bad deeds, so does repentance. EXCEPT when someone is harmed, then their forgiveness is required to erase your bad deed. If you stole from them, return what you stole, if you talked behind their back, ask their forgiveness, and so on.

No, his good deeds don't give him that right. But he does have the right to say anything he pleases, no matter how rude, insensitive, or tasteless it might be. Nobody ever said it was good manners. Who cares what he says anyway? People should learn to have thicker skins.

Of course not, how silly. Would making a donation to a homeless shelter make it okay to kill people?

No.

People like him can only go so far.
They fall, too--just like they rise up.

Their feet can fall right out from under them.
Prideful people get NOWHERE............
