I'd take loss of inches anyday over body weight. That just means you are gaining muscle and that's awesome!

It is better to loose inches than weight but it's a lot harder to see that kind of progress and keep with it when it's "only an inch" vs a few pounds. Most people use inches as a final measurement.

Here's something else to consider:

If someone severely over weight, they may 20 lbs and not have a significant inch change. That same 20 lbs on someone who is only slightly over weight may show a significantly higher inch change.

Yes. Depending on the type of exercise you are doing there is a good chance you are building muscle. Building muscle can not only make it seem like you aren't losing as much weight, but in some cases I've actually seen people GAIN a few pounds even though they are clearly "more fit."

Yes. When losing inches means build muscle fiber. As your body gets toned, you lose fat and gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so you could lose inches without losing weight.

muscle is much heavier than fat, you can lose inches and gain weight at the same time which is why when your workin out weight should be the last thing you use as a bench mark of success! check your measurements and your body fat percentage for a more accurate understanding of what your weight is comprised of.

YES! You are very smart for realizing that. People always think it is the scale that matters, but it is the size of your body and the health you are in
