I've been working out every other day. I'm always sore...should I still work out if I'm sore....

Someone told me muscles need to rebuild or something (thus the soreness).....

Maybe give yourself two days to rest and then workout. You could be overworking your muscles. However it is good to workout even if you're soar because you get the blood running through the muscles and then they won't be as soar after your workout.

Don't work the same muscle group 2 days in a row, so the muscle has time to heal. If you are still sore 2 days later or more then perhaps you are working out too hard. You don't have to be sore for days for a workout to be effective. Back off a bit and build up more slowly...working out when you are sore will likely just make you more sore, so that's more time off of working out, and thus more time to get the desired results.

If you're still sore then you should first take vitamin C. No Joke. This helps muscles to heal after the stress they've been put under. Then, depending on how sore you are, you should do light, easy stretching to gentle work outs. Don't push it to fast, in time you'll be able to work out and feel no pain. I did karate for about two years and for the first six months I was sore after each session but that decreased until there was no pain. I guess you could say it's a bit like making pancakes; you have to have patience.

If you worked every body part the last time you worked out then no! This will do more damage than good. However if for instance you only worked your legs then it is perfectly o.k to work another muscle group the next day. Just remember that muscles grow while they are resting (if they have been worked first), and if they are still sore this is a message from your body to tell you they need more.

You need to work through the soreness or you'll always be sore if you just stop for days at a time and then start back again. The soreness will not continue if you work through it. It's just a sign saying that you're working your muscles that you usually don't work.

Stick with it....

Your muscles are going to be sore for awhile. They have been
unused and will be sore until they are stretched. You need to continue to work out or they will stay sore if you just work out and then wait for them to be ok. If you get an especially sore
spot then baby that only for a while.

Some soreness is normal is you've just started working out. Exercise creates an acid that builds up in the muscles that may cause you to feel stiff or sore. Some of that is to be expected and you can work through it in a few days.

As with everything, moderation is key and you SHOULD listen to your body.

Very normal to feel sore when your body isn't regularly used to it. You can do cardio everyday but you should do weight training probably every other day. Also in the beginning take it easy and work your way up from there. That way you are not jolting your muscles into things that they are not used to.....also you won't pull any muscles either if you take it slow.

it depends on the training your doing. if your doing weights then you need to rest at least a day before you train the same muscle group again. when you do weights you tear the muscles and then they repair themselves but they repair stronger, thats how you build muscle.
if your training is cardio then your sore because of lactic acid building up in your muscles after you train, a better warm up and a good warm down with plenty stretching will help.
if your only after startin tho expect this soreness to last a while but dont let it trick you into not training for a while, you need to push your body to improve but dont over do it or you will pull or strain a muscle.
