Most fruit lasts longer in the fridge than the cupboard.

Fruit (especially bananas and avocados) matures faster in the dark than in the light. If you keep all your fruit in the cupboard, depending on how much fruit you had, you probably wouldn't be able to eat it all before it went rotten.

some do, but fruit is supposed to be a fresh thing unlike tinned/wrapped stuff you would store in a cupboard. it also makes a nice centre for a coffee table etc. and makes you look good an healthy if you have fruit out.

My family would end up forgetting about it and we wouldn't know it was there until we started smelling something bad! If I leave the fruit on the counter, it'll get eaten. The only thing I have to put in the fridge is grapes because I have to eat those cold.

Besides, it looks so pretty in a bowl on the cabinet top!

Because it will go bad faster.. I keep mine in the fridge, it lasts longer that way!

Most of it spoils quicker in the dark and at room temp than it does at rrefrigerator temps.
