Anti-Catholic themes may be loosely categorized as follows:
1. attacking Catholicism as being un-Christian or a cult (in the pejorative and not the sociological sense);
2. ridiculing or misinterpreting Catholic doctrine or practice;
3.ascribing to the Catholic Church a sinister role in an anti-Christian or anti-American conspiracy;
4.distorting or taking out of context illegal or scandalous behavior (especially sexual misconduct) by Catholic clergy or laity.

well Stephen you are only partially correct, Hinduism for example doesn't claim to be Christian and therefore some of this bigotry would never be directed at them #1 or #3 for example other than this your point is taken but is anti-catholicism more prevailent than anyother anti-religious behavior? i think it is, at least in American.

Yes.
Anti-Catholicism is the one of the last 'accepted' prejudices in the world.
The textbooks in nearly all public schools present blatantly anti-Catholic bigotry as if it were real history.
In many high schools "history" is being taught with a feigned "objectivity." In truth, it is actually the usual anti-Catholic drivel that has fueled the last acceptable discrimination that is being presented as history.
What is presented is not history but what I would refer to as revisionism, not even slanting toward anti Catholicism but guns blazing anti Catholicism.
Arrogance sometimes accompanies the ignorance that is used to justify discrimination against the Catholic Church.
You can't be anti-Semitic, anti-black, anti-democratic, anti-American, anti-sexism....but yet people CAN be anti Catholic....who are the bigots? Please stand up and be counted.

i do no longer, for one.... and that i understand that there are a number of others. it rather is quite common to assist the the terrific option to life of an unborn toddler besides because of the fact the execution of a criminal, the two logically and Bucolically. The Pope does not talk for all Christians and not even all Catholics for this reason.

All... or any one of the four.
As +Fulton Sheen once said:
"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is, of course, quite a different thing."

Plainly and as simply as I can put it...anti-catholicism is anti truth! Jesus built His church upon Peter and the long line of Apostolic succession and anyone not accepting of this is buying into lies of the worst kind.

Yes, unfortunately what David said is right. I gotta say, I asked a question about Catholic ritual the other day and I got about five really good, really informative responses from current church-goes, and a few more from ex-Catholics. And I could be wrong, but off-hand there was not one Bible quote among them (not even a little one). There were also several versions of "thanks for asking this, please contact me with any other questions."
And if that weren't enough, they even laughed at my jokes!
This is in stark contrast to what I usually get from "Christains." Catholics also aren't interested in conversions, which is part of what makes them easier to talk to.

No. 3,4, and 5 only.
2 would be done out of ignorance.
3 and 4 out of malice.
but 1 is legitimate, especially for former Catholics (of which my Father and Wife are).
I watch EWTN and I read the Bible. The two don't add up. I'll never make fun of Catholics and I love their traditions, but it is a SERIOUS strecth to think the Roman Catholic Church is the Church built on Peter...
A Catholic is any member of God's Church. Anyone who accepts Chirst as their savior belongs to the Universial Church.

Well, it could be anti-religious in general (just remove "catholic" and insert any other faith)
