Yes. Unfortunately that is the way it CURRENTLY stands. Clearly there should be amendments made to our laws that deny citizenship to the children of ILLEGALS.
You could easily say that she threw an anchor out from between her legs after she landed.

Yes, unfortunate and they are doing it every day. A child to this people is dollars, US government benefits, free health care to the mother and child, better chances of them staying in the USA, free education, etc. and all paid by the good American citizens. Crazy at may seen is true and our government don't do nothing about it and there are American pro illegals, defending this invasion of illegals coming across our borders.
jfs:
The amount of the benefit is through the child that was born in the USA from illegal aliens but it is for all of them. There was a lady, illegal with three children, two born in the USA and the other in Mexico and she was receiving over $600.00 monthly and she was complaining because the government of California was going to reduce the help. She was complaining and saying," How could I support my three kids and my self with less than $600.00 a month and she was claiming that was unjust. You see my friend, what you are saying is not the whole truth, you pro illegals just say what is just for your cause but not the whole truth and that is to give what is legally ours to the illegal aliens. Don't you think that our citizens come first and that the illegals that are here are just here to take away what is not theirs. Do you think that our American citizens or any other citizen could go to Mexico and get benefits like they do here.. Do you really think is possible, in Mexico.

Yes, and it is a scam which has been committed for a long time. Our schools in southwest states are bloated with anchor babies.
Our social services coffer is drained by illegal aliens with anchor babies.
Last year I was driving past a grade school near my sisters house early in the morning, I saw a line of hispanic women, most of them pregnant, all pushing baby strollers, and most with 2 or three other children (or more) under 5 in tow, lined up outside the caffeteria, onto the street, down the block and around the corner,
I asked my sister what the heck was going on down at that grade school. (She works in education in that district, although not at that school). She told me that is the "breakfast for migrant school children program" (illegals), she said it is a California program set up to feed children of school age, but somewhere along the line the mothers started bringing their other children, and then the "hispanic" cafeteria workers started serving the mothers, because the mothers were eating their childrens food, and the whole thing got out of hand. I asked her what do they serve? cerial? She told me NO, they get a complete hot breakfast, the works.
I asked her how much does that cost the school district?
She told me at first not much, but over the past couple of years the line had grown from a few mothers to hundreds as word got around, and now the cost is staggering.
She said the majority of the kids in that school are anchor babies, their parents have no legal documents, the children have US birth certificates.
And the kicker is...... most of the kids and mothers I saw in line were really fat.
This is the kind of thing citizens in the US are really sick of.

Unfortunately yes. I have heard of cases where the woman is in labor, the kid is "crowning" and they are shoving her over the fence so that the kid is born in the US.
This area is a mis-interpretation of the 14th amendment. This amendment was regarding the slaves that were born here. The drafters did not intend that to cover MILLIONS of anchor babies. I hope the law in Texas becomes law! I;m sure the pro-illegals are already drafting their appeals.

Actually the law applies to Citizens. The belief is that the child, if born on American Soil, is a citizen but if it is challenged in court, I think that it will be determined that the child is at best a dual citizen since the parent is a citizen of another country.

You will open up a can of worms with this.
As a practical matter, yes, although the history of the constitutional amendment in question is pretty clear that this was not the intent of the law. However, many are talking about changing this, just as every EU country and Canada have already abolished automatic birthright citizenship.

Yes. But Legislation in Texas is going through to make sure that the mother is a citizen in order for the child to be one as well.
These kind of babies are known as anchor babies.

You become a U.S. Citizen in two ways, Ju Soli or Ju Sanguini. By birthright or by blood thru derived citizenship. Therefore a child born in U.S. Soil automatically becomes a citizen.
