No. God had sent the angel, Gabriel, to tell her about the wondrous miracle about to take place. The process was produced by the Holy Spirit, not a common man.

So, she knew in advance and she was told how important it was. We are all better off because of her great service to God.

Have you seen God on South Park? He's this short, squatty kind of beaver/platypus thing with really bad hair and teeth. I'm thinking he doesn't get much play when the lights are on.

Supposedly the head Roman god Jupiter ravished Julius Caesar's mother in the temple one evening, which is how Julius was fathered. Temple fresco's put Jupiter's vital statistic at about 40" and as many pounds, and the experience supposedly left Caesar's mother so deformed she was never able to bathe in public thereafter. So if Mary was going to be impregnated by a god, Yahweh doing it via spiritual mumbo jumbo was probably a lot less painful than how Jupiter fathered human kids the old-fashioned way.

To fully see the truth to this you need to read the history of the Israelite peoples, every God fearing Jewish Woman throughout the centuries longed to be the Mother of the promised Messiah and Mary(Miriam) was no exception to this, they knew full well the implications of this and longed for this most singular honor,Mary knew the scriptures and prophecies well and so although She was taken aback by the Angels words She immediatly replied with Her `Magnificat` and said yes to God`s plan, hope this helps to clear things for you.

Not one of us had anything to say about our birth...we could not say yes or no to it. Nevertheless, the Bible says God knows every one of us and our days were written down before we were born.
That said, we are created by God, for God...despite what we would like to think. God's will is going to be accomplished; or, we shall bring condemnation upon ourselves. Just like God had the first word in our lives, so, too, will He have the last.
That is why it is so important to seek God's will for our lives and follow His lead. THis is all done through faith, i.e. faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. This is the only way - faith - that we can bring glory to the Father, be justified before God the Father, and be saved for eternity.
Mary and even Joseph fulfilled the will of God, whether they wanted to or not. How much better life is, when we align our goals with the will of God -- and not necessarily our own.

As has been correctly stated, Mary was fully cognizant of the act and here is the reason.
Adam's sin was passed down through man kinds progressions of children. Jesus was conceived without original sin, thus "The lamb of God" was provided.
The sacrifice became complete and acceptable with Jesus surrendering his life for us. No one else could do for us what he did.

Not only did she know but she gave her permission.

Luke 1:34"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[c] the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37For nothing is impossible with God."

38"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left.

As I have said before Jesus Christ was not me, I would have come up with a much better line, something like 'I'm starting to feel quite cross now.'

It could have been edited by the local media of course, you know the sort of thing; 'we're not going to accept that, give us something else or we won't write anything at all.'

'Forgive them because they are a bunch of stupid morons'? 'John, can you put a spin on this before they give up on this book deal completely'?

Hmmm. It has been proven that 'virgin' birth is possible and proven in the history of nature.

Jurassic Park was right. Nature finds a way.
