Their largest church is in Dallas, Tx with over 3000 members...they have two services filled to capacity. There are nearly 10 other gay churches in Dallas as well...we see this in every large city in the country.

Obviously, gay people want to return to church, but are not welcome in the ones they were raised....so, why do fundamentalists not extend a hand of fellowship to their gay brothers and sisters and welcome them in the same way they do any others they feel may be sinning...divorced, adulterers, etc... ?

Why do pastors rail from the pulpit about gay people, pointint a finger of judgement at them thereby pushing them away...but, are quiet about the divorced, adulterers, obese,etc...? Shouldn't churches show everyone the face of God...and not the backhand of judgement?

It's obvious that gays want to worship God too...otherwise the MCC church would not exist.

Gay people have been ridiculed and condemned by many religious leaders, including fundamentalist ones such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Jimmy Swaggart, John Hagee, and too many others to list. There is no welcome mat at the door of those churches, so gays who still want to believe in God and worship have created churches where they can congregrate and worship without the threats of intimidation and prejudice. Plain and simple: the love of God in mainstream churches is, apparently, not for everybody.

Homophobia, the irrational fear of homosexuality. In a world of torture, poverty, child abuse, war, and famine, the most often touted problem touted from the pulpit and in the media is homosexuality. The only reason for this is the personal revulsion of some Christians, which they push upon their children.

MCC meets the needs of some gay Christians. Others of us took a look at the faith and decided there was nothing there to cling to.

While I agree that all Christians should show the love of Christ to everyone, living a gay lifestyle is a bit of a different topic. For me personally, sinning and living in sin are 2 different issues. We are all sinners, I understand that and ask for forgiveness. But to constantly be at odds with the teachings of the Bible is not simply sinning, but much deeper. I agree that the church should be more outspoken about the other sinful ways (divorce, adultery, etc.) but it seems more and more like the gay community wants to push their agenda and wants to be heard. What I'm saying is this; have you ever heard of people referring to themselves as the divorced community?

"Rail from the pulpit?" You are not talking about churches that are involved in truth. I think I've heard it mentioned TWICE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS. If it is being "railed from a pulpit," then something MUST BE out of focus.

It is about TRUTH. Much of today's denominational world does NOT uphold the TRUTH of scripture. They claim it doesn't matter what you believe, BUT THAT IS NOT THE TEACHING OF CHRIST. See for instance Matthew 7:21 “NOT EVERYONE who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ WILL ENTER the kingdom of heaven. ONLY those who DO WHAT MY FATHER IN HEAVEN WANTS will enter. 22 “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord! Lord! Didn’t we prophesy in your name? Didn’t we drive out demons in your name? Didn’t we do many miracles in your name?’ 23 Then I will tell them clearly, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who do evil!’

To your question on homosexuality, scripture is clear:

Romans 1:26 So God let them go. They were filled with shameful longings. Their women committed sexual acts that were not natural.
27 In the same way, the men turned away from their natural love for women. They burned with sexual longing for each other. Men did shameful things with other men. They suffered in their bodies for all the twisted things they did. 28 They didn’t think it was important to know God. So God let them go. He allowed them to have dirty minds. They did things they shouldn’t do.

1Corinthians 6:9 Don’t you know that evil people will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who are prostitutes or who commit homosexual acts. 10 Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom. 11 SOME OF YOU USED TO DO THOSE THINGS. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of that was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

SOME OF YOU USED TO DO THOSE THINGS…

There IS TRUTH. It DOES MATTER what churches teach and what people do. While we see many twisting the scriptures, they still hold truth.

I agree with you to some degree. You were right when you said we need to extend our hand out to them. But we cant bypass what their doing. The lifestyle is an abomination in the sight of God. Its a sin, and like every other sin, it has to be comfronted with. The person has to repent of that sin. And like every other sin, it can be forgiven for.
