A hernia is a condition in which part of the intestine bulges through a weak area in muscles in the abdomen. An inguinal hernia occurs in the groin (the area between the abdomen and thigh). It is called "inguinal" because the intestines push through a weak spot in the inguinal canal, which is a triangle-shaped opening between layers of abdominal muscle near the groin. Obesity, pregnancy, heavy lifting, and straining to pass stool can cause the intestine to push against the inguinal canal.

Symptoms of inguinal hernia may include a lump in the groin near the thigh; pain in the groin; and, in severe cases, partial or complete blockage of the intestine. You have to see your doctor if you have the above symptoms. The doctor diagnoses hernia by doing a physical exam and by taking x rays and blood tests to check for blockage in the intestine.

It could quite possibly be a small hernia, but the only way to know for certain is to have a doctor examine it. It has nothing to do with the size difference in your testes, which is just a normal variation in the scheme of things. If your small bulge decreases in size when you lie down, or if you can make it go back down by pressing on it, then it probably is a hernia. Although it can be held in place with an old fashioned truss, if you get it repaired while it is small, the surgery is much easier to do and recover from. If you wait, the intestine which is bulging can be cut off from the blood supply and die. Then the repair becomes life or death necessity. It may not be painful at the moment, it won't become painful unless there is a major problem to deal with. Don't wait to find out, just make an appointment with your doctor for an exam. And while you are there, and he's in the general area, you can ask him/her to have a look at the testicles and evaluate the possible reasons for the size difference. Then you will have a professional opinion with a diploma and training behind it, which is more than you can be certain of here.

Sounds like a right inguinal hernia which can start as a lump with mild pains. This is caused by weak abdominal walls and lifting of heavy objects. Hernia can become very uncomfortable and painful. once the intestines start to protrude thru. Surgery (Herniorrhaphy) is needed immediately as soon as possible in order to avoid volvollus or intusseption or the colon twisting and becoming strangulated and ischemic and thus necrotic or dead. from lack of blood circulation.

Make sure, you insist that the surgeon inserts a patch or pad over once the hernia is repaired to prevent future reoccurrence. In the old days, the normal procedure is just to pull muscle tissue over the hole and suture in place. This type of repair eventually fails; ; causing new ruptures. By the use of this strong patch, scar tissue forms within the patch itself making it a permanent repair.

Get it checked out ASAP with a doctor. Even if it is a hernia, it can twist and cause problems. Or it might be something else entirely.
