this is an excellent question! I think man has totally lost himself into evil and has forgotten about god and love for humanity. we are comming up with our own rules and regulations! Some of our religions claim that they follow what their books say... but I feel that they are doing the total opposite! I wish of us could STOP for just a minute and see all the wrong we are doing!
I pray daily for an abundance of love to be sent out to the entire universe!
Our Religions teaches us all about love but it is us that does not follow!

I think alot of religions are almost operating more like businesses these days. And its not good business to let your customers visit the competitor, regardless of what your mission statement says...

Unfortunately all the holy books were written by a man somewhere... in (likely) a different language, and so they're all open to interpretation. An how people interpret things is often similar to what motovates them. [How can we be right if others are right too? So they must be wrong..] Thus the cycle continues...

Because there can only be one true religion.
Jesus said at John 13:35 that "by this all will know that you are my disciples,if you have love among yourselves."
That comment itself rules all religions out but one - Jehovahs Witnesses.
Jehovahs Witnesses are the only organisation that no matter what congregation you go to you will be greeted and treated with love and kindness. We are the only organisation that will not take up arms against one another. We are the only organisation that does not look down on one because of their race or colour but treat all equally and with respect and love.
So you are wrong - there is one religions that does not only love one another but has love for all of mankind and that is why in obedience to Jesus' command found at Matt.28:19,20 we go and speak to people everywhere about our wonderful God and his Kingdom and the many blessing it will bring to those who listen.(John 17:3)

It's not the religion itself, but the religious "leaders" who are a problem. If every religious group in the world would "police itself" and force out all of the radical extremists, the world would be alot happier place.

religion is a cultural and social thing now a days, the basic concepts long lost. religion is like a football team and believers are like supporters. they both want their team to win, and they shout abuse and try to diminish their opponents, sometimes also resulting in violence...when instead they should be cheering and enjoying the game.

Maybe because we have a distorted view on what love is. We say it is love when we spank our kids. And it is love when we straighten out our spouse or girlfriend. We probably don't have a clue on what real love feels like and is about. And most important, we destroy ourselves, some of us everyday, how can we love others is we truly hate ourselves?

can only speak of Christianity and Judiasm

the first two commandments---love God with all your heart mind soul and strength---and---love your neighbor as yourself---are impossible.

these are goals that we strive for, daily, hopefully, through prayer and acts.

we all fall short.

the two greatest themes in the judeo-christian tradition are pride and humility

have a nice day---love ya---Brian

ps. beware of Jehovah's Witnesses and their Watchtower links. If you ever access them, you'll never get rid of them. They---and the Mormans---are like herpes. They just keep coming back, and coming back....but God bless them, they DO mean well...

This is the core of all religions.

However people like moving on its periphery with emphasis on " mine is better than urs".

Whoever reaches that core gets that first hand experience that periphery is for the stupids.

However its all a game of Divine within itself.

Simple. Adherents to the religion do not follow the precepts in many cases.
