Dr. David A. DeWitt commented on this:

"Of all the organisms in the sequence database, the one that matched T. rex the closest was the chicken. Now, before assuming that this would be strong evidence that birds are related to dinosaurs, it must be put into perspective. The sequence similarity between the T. rex and the chicken was 58%, while it was only 51% similar to both frogs and newts. This compares with a reported 81% similarity between humans and frogs, and 97% between humans and cows. Moreover, while some of the peptide fragments showed sequence matches to chickens, others matched frog, or newt, or even fish and mice. The authors did point out that not all organisms are in the database. Although the chicken was the closest match from the database, it is possible that animals not included could be a closer match. Regardless, such similarity does not prove that the organisms shared an evolutionary ancestor.

Certainly the recovery of protein sequences from fossil dinosaurs should be applauded—and that work is solid. However, the use of such sequence data to support the idea that birds evolved from dinosaurs is a stretch.

Interestingly, the amount of protein that they could recover decreased over time. In other words, the amount that they could recover in recent extractions was reduced compared to previous extractions. This suggested that there was degradation of the sample in its current 'modern' environment. The fact that such degradation is occurring over very short time scales poses a potential difficulty for evolutionists in explaining how the material could have persisted for an alleged 68 million years."

As Dr. David Menton said, “It certainly taxes one’s imagination to believe that soft tissue and cells could remain so relatively fresh in appearance for the tens of millions of years of supposed evolutionary history.”

Wouldn’t that be a hit for the meat industry if we could figure out how to preserve meat for so long?

Chickens smell? No, they don't, if you take care of them properly. All birds are actually quite sweet, and make much better friends than people (sometimes) because they can't betray you.

By the way, have you ever looked at the bone structure in a T-Rex's foot next to the bone structure of a chicken's foot? You will note that they are quite similar. I also think that the overall bone structure is similar as well.

Please compare them side-by-side before posting stupid questions like this.

Birds and Dinosaurs share a fairly similar backbone and wing structure.

They are not saying chickens evolved from the T-rex, only that they are "similar" in design.

Like a chimpanze and humans. Not the same animal by any means, but share common traits - like thumbs, etc...

Regarding evolution:

Did they ever find that giant boat?

Birds and Reptiles still are very similar in their genetic structure. Ever heard of Archeopterix? That's the link between Dinosaurs and birds. All bird developed out of Reptiles. If you don't get that than you just don't know enough about science to make a statement here.

Can you believe that a god created the earth in seven days and somehow decided to destroy it all with a flood? How on earth can you believe in creation after an observation like that!!!! You're telling me the idiotic, smelly, nasty god that is only good for fooling people actually destroyed is own creation? I am completely dumbfounded right now... Yes, you are dumb and I somehow found you!

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's not true. You're using 'argument from incredulity'. It's a weak, fallacious tactic which only showcases your ignorance.

Instead of being offended by the idea, you should look at the data and find out how they arrived at such a conclusion. You'll realize that the notion is completely plausible.

You see only the lizard, and the chicken.
You do not see the intermediate steps.
It's a little like travelling from Washington to Paris, by looking at a postcard from Paris and saying you are there.
You have omitted the journey.
Life is a journey, a gift.
Don't ignore the gift, it's the most special thing you have.
And don't forget Who gave you the gift, either...

No - just that T-rex DNA resembles chicken DNA. This confirms our long-held belief that dinosoaurs and birds are closely related.

Actually, the article said that the T-Rex is a distant cousin of the chicken, not a close relative.
