We have two cats; when I'm holding one in my arms in front of a mirror; it looks like he's looking in the direction of the mirror, which looks the same way when he's looking at a wall. I'm not asking if they recognize themselves, I'm just wondering if they see any reflsection?
If anyone has a talking cat; could you please ask him?

My cat ignores his image on the mirror, though he may try to chase other reflexes.

I used to have a big mirror that covered the whole wall, I would often make him chase things into the mirror, but he never looked at his image.

Whatever he sees, he does not think it's another cat, and has no interest at all on't,

Yes, they can. My family has a goofy Dalmatian mix who can bark at her reflection in the mirror for hours-she thinks it's another dog. Meanwhile my cat will actually look at me right in the eyes in the mirror (the way a person will look at another in the mirror when standing next to each other). I've seen her see our other cats in the mirror when they walk up behind her, and she'll turn around to look at them face-to-face. So yes, she can definetely see reflections, and in her case, she does seem to understand that it's just that: a reflection.

My cat always fought the other kitty all the time. I finally got sick of her almost breaking my wall mirror, so I took her in my arms and put in in front of the mirror so she could see me in it with her. She stopped soon after. The point is yes she can see her reflection.

I don't know about cats, but I've seen plenty of animals checking out their reflection. We even have a cardinal right now that is going nuts pecking its reflection in our bathroom--it thinks it's another cardinal, and is fighting it for territory! I have a dog who used to even watch TV, and I can prove it. There used to be a series of pest control ads which started out as perfume ads, or something else soothing, then a cockroach would crawl across the screen. It would get sprayed. and drop down as if dead. Molly was close to the screen watching, and when the bug dropped, she actually looked at the floor trying to find it!

Cats see something but they don't know it's them. Only the Apes seem to know that their reflection is "me". Cats either see another cat.
Or some cats seem not to be interested in the reflection at all. what they seem to be saying is "It looks like a cat, but it doesn't smell like a cat. So it can't be a cat. Nothing to worry about. Must be another TV or something. Ignore it."
That seems to be my cat's take. Remember cats trust their noses.

my cat ignores mirrors, even if you put his nose up to it he doesnt react any differnt than usual. He just looks around and the mirror doesnt catch his attention anymore that the white bathroom walls.
