Some propose that Melchizedek was actually a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ. While possible, I find this view unlikely. Melchizedek was the king of Salem. Would Jesus Christ have come to earth and ruled as an earthly king over a city? I seriously doubt it. Melchizedek is similar to Christ in that they are both priests and kings - but they are not the same person.

He was the King of ancient Salem and "priest of the most high God,Jehovah"(Gen.14:18,22).He is the first priest mentioned in the Scriptures;he occupied that position sometime prior to 1933BCE.
Like other humans,Melchizedek was born and he died. But as Paul brought out in Heb.7:3,the names of his father and mother are not furnished, his ancestry and posterity are not disclosed, and the Scriptures contain no information about the beginning of his days or the end of his life.
Thus,Melchizedek could fittingly foreshadow Jesus Christ who has an unending priesthood. As Melchizedek had no
recorded predecessor or successor in his priesthood,so to Christ was preceded by no high priest similar to himself, and the Bible shows that none will ever succeed him.So Melchizedek could thus typify Jesus Christ, who by Jehovah's sworn oath "has become a high priest according to the manner of Melchizedek forever".- Heb.6:20

He was a King of Salem, this means was a prince of peace. He is seen as the great man even now. The Bible testifies that He is man with no beginning of days nor end of life, he is forever living!

He was a priest of the most high G-d YHVH. He instituted the sacrifice of grain and the fruit of the vine. Yeshua (Jesus) was called a priest in the order of Melkesadec because he changed the sacrifice from blood offering back to the fruit of the vine and grain (bread).
