I really really want to start going jogging on a regular basis, I see people doing it and it looks like quite a chilled out way to exercise, but every time I try to run, I don't get very far and I tire myself out quickly! I also have a nagging in my mind that I look silly doing it compared to all the fit, slim people that do it in the same area!! Silly I know. Does anyone have any tips on keeping myself motivated, pacing myself, breathing techniques etc? And also how can I zone out from the world around me? I tried listening to my iPod but I then worry I can't hear the world lol :o)
Love and hugs to all Xx~xX

I'm not a runner anymore (knee issues) but I know a bit about these issues. The best combo for healthy weight loss is reduce calorie intake by 500 *and* burn off 500 calories by exercise. It's not hard to reduce intake by 500 but exercising 500 worth can be hard so just do your best at the start.

A friend of mine just started training for a marathon and is part of a running club (I've never done either). He told me that they start lot of new members (which he is) with this combo:

Run/Jog: 4 minutes
Walk: 1 minutes
Repeat

Take it slow. It's the lack of pacing that kills ya and nobody important cares what you look like. Loved ones should appreciate your effort. Healthy people just like to see more people exercising. By-standers will only find fault with you to make excuses for their lack of participation. In other words, don't care about how you look - you will be more graceful soon.

Good luck!

Running and jogging is a great way to loss wait i did the same thing. Don't get discouraged the best way to start is to go to the gym and work on treadmills and other aerobic machines ...... but don't use the bikes there. Sitting is not a Good way to stay balanced and it takes longer. that where you can listen to your ipod. Once you get fitter (3 to 5) pounds less You should start on jogging to places and for fun. If you really don't want to be seen just go to an uncommon place. Then to go the extra mile walk to get the milk or walk to work(depending were work is). When you walk try to bring water no SPORTS DRINKS +( (sport drinks = more fat) =()()() Here are some sources

1. The best form is keep your legs bent a little and your body slightly forward. The motion in your arms would be like you are going to hit your chin if you were to bring them up that far, but you don't. Your feet should be straight when you hit the ground, this keeps your body in line with your neck, back, legs, knees and ankles. When you are running don't bounce, this adds more weight when you land on each foot. make sure your body doesn't sway side to side and look forward and slightly down to the ground.

2. Remember. when you run, with every step you take take, you have a force of up to 4 times your body weight on each foot. As for your stride, your body will tell you what is comfortable. Don't force it, work with it.

3. make sure you get a good pair of running shoes. If you are not sure go to a running store and they will get you set up. A lot of running stores will let you run in them to see how they feel right there in the store.

4. Be committed to run 3 days a week for the next 3 months. I guarantee you will not only get better, faster, and more fit, you will enjoy it more.

5. As for zoning things out it's different for each runner. I like to thing I am running in a race or competing in the Olympics. It also may help to have a running partner, or join a running group. They have runners from beginners like yourself, to advanced.
Good luck superstar!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
