I respect all opinions although I may not agree with them. Everyone, whether athiests or Christians is entitled to say what they think or feel, provided they do it in a polite manner. We all have freedom to say what we want but this freedom should not give us a license to infringe and cause hurt to others who don't subscribe to our views.

Whether or not to give a thumb down to an opinion is not based on the person giving the opinion but on the merit or demerit of the opinion. If the opinion is downright rude and abusive, then it justifies a thumbs down.

Opinions and belief are individual. everybody has the right to express himself. I give thumbs down for people who are personally insulting or use others to mock some YA user.

If it is an answer to the question or an honest opinion, no. They have as much right to their opinions and to express them here as anyone else.

If it is deliberately offensive, abusive, filthy, etc. then yes I might. I would thumb down a Christian with the same kind of response. No one has the right to ridicule, degrade or mock others.

I think that part of being a believer of ANY religion, is to learn to tolerate others.
Clearly, anyone who calls themself a Christian or a Muslim or whatever - should CARE about the beliefs of others.
For example - I'm a Christian. I believe that the Christian values are true. Having said that - how could I be rude or ugly to someone who doesn't? Wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose of the gospel? How could I ever hope to help them come to know Jesus if I treat them like dirt? What about THAT would ever make them WANT to believe as I do?

It goes the same for all religions, I think. If we are what we say we are - we should behave as such.

Nice post :)

They can always change what it says in the bible.

Don't be surprised if there's an 11th commandment discovered which says thou shalt thumb down athiest answer on yahoo answers or else smite them down with the jaw bone of an ***.

I am not sure what a chtistian is.
This being said, it's easier to thumb down and report than to come up with a well written argumented and logic response. Especially when trying to defend nonsensical bronze age middle eastern goat herders tales and legends.

Only those that attack the answerer in a vile or personal manner. I also give thumbs down to "Christians" that answer in that manner. Your opinion is your right, to say that someone is uneducated, or unintelligent, because they do not share the same belief as you is ridiculous and unnecessary

(Not a Christian, but I'll answer anyway because I think my opinion is valid and the question works both ways.)

If someone answers a question well, even if I am not convinced of their opinion, I will give them a thumbs-up. If their argument lacks validity, is illogical, doesn't really answer the question, or contains hateful language, I give it a thumbs-down.

I care so much more about what God thinks of me than atheists. A thumbs up from God is more important than knowing, and having it clarified, that an atheist disagrees with you.
