I have lots of 8mb cards. However, I had two different people playing on the PS2 and more than a 6 years worth of gameplay. I'm also a big fan of RPGs, which tend to have big save files.
So really, one card is enough for a while, as long as you remember to delete saves from rental games you've returned. There pretty cheap though, so you should have no problem getting another when the first starts getting kinda full.

It is big enough as long as they dont play games that take up alot of memory. But really with a 16MB card only being $5-$10 more than a 8 you might as well spend a little more so you wont have to worry about your kid needing another memory card and paying full price for another 8MB card.

My 10yr old has only a 8mb card for her PS2 and it still isnt full and besides when they clock a game they can erase what has been saved if they want to. Usually they are bored of that game once they have clocked it anyway. Also my brother has 8mb card and he has heaps of games that are saved on them. He has only gone up to a bigger MB card recently. His bit of a computer guru. Besides the 8MB card is now pretty much inexpensive and is what I only allow my daughter to use.
Hope that helps.

Yes it's plenty big enough! I have a 9 year old boy and he has an 8mb memory card with no problems. Besides you can delete any saved data you dont want.
