Because they have to please so many different groups of people in order to get in their position of power. This includes opposing political parties as well as special interest groups as much as they do their constituents. Oh what a tangled web we weave...when first we practice to deceive

Probably because they have to please so many people at the same time. The art of politics is the also known as the art of compromise. You try to get a consensus between two or more very contentious and opposed groups and try to come up with a solution that would satisfy everyone. Most of the time, it's easier for them to just lie than go back and tell everyone it's back to the drawing boards because someone didn't agree to or was satisfied with the solution.

For the same reason the rest of us have trouble with telling the truth about difficult issues. How many of us feel the need to tell a little lie to ease past a socially difficuly situation?
Politicians are people too, even if most of us have low opinions of their behavior.

Politicans will never tell the truth cos one wrong answer will break their ricebowls.They will always talk big very cocky when giving speeches.They are at times too coward to tell the truth to jepordise their reputation...

They are inherently dishonest and it ticks me off.What bothers me is not the lying so much but their campaign promises never see the light of day and thats a big slap in the face for voters and supporters.
