There are many reasons why your period could be abnormal. If you are under a lot of stress/worried about things a lot of the time, it can cause you to bleed really heavy, skip a period, spot, or skip multiple periods. If you have had radical weight loss or weight gain, it can also cause your period to be abnormal. If you take birth control pills or other prescription medication (such as antibiotics) your period can become abnormal. And sometimes, for absolutely no reason at all, people just miss a period, spot, or bleed really heavy before their periods go back to normal.

If you are concerned, you should make an appointment to see your gynocologist, but it's probably nothing to worry about

When I found out I was pregnant with my first the same thing was going on with me. My period would come but then it would be just a little and then gone again. I wasn't familiar then with signs of preganancy. A friend told me she thought I was pregnant and she was right! I would definitly take a test.

Could be stress related (I've had spotting occur when I'm stressed) or an infection. The only way to find out for sure is to have this evaluated by your dr to see what they think.

I hope you are asking this question from your laptop, in your doctor's office, while waiting to see her.
