I have put this question in on home and garden but it doesnt really fit that category so I am trying pets as well?!

A friend minded my bunglow and pets this easter weekend while I was away and told he me that a badger had propelled itself through the air on to my front window.

I didnt really believe him cos the window is at least waist height and I thought he may have been half asleep and maybe it was an owl or something.

Well I was awake last night I hadnt even gone to bed and this tremendous banging began resounding through the bungalow - I thought it was an earthquake - I am deaf so I cant hear noises like a hearing person - but this was tremendous. So I looked out of the front window in time to see the badger propelling himself in the air and shouldering my front window. I thought the window was going to break, but it is strenghthened glass and double glazing.

He did it again and again.

Why is he doing this?

Cant call 911 cos I live in the United Kingdom!!!

This is when the curtains are drawn at night. There are other bungalows in our road, but this isnt happening to anyone else. For some reason the badgers like my garden at night and visit very very often.

He cant see his reflection cos the window is quite high up, its over waist level height. I have just been out and tried to get to badger level ( I hope the men in white coats dont come and get me!!) and there is no way he can see his reflection. So thats not it!

Don't know 'bout the critters y'all got there 'cross the pond, but badgers here in Texas are just plain ornery! The ol' cuss is prob'ly just tryin' to get in and cain't take 'no' for an answer.

On another tack, you mentioned pets... Are they perhaps getting into the window and giving view to the creature? I admit it's odd behaviour, even for badgers, but I'll wager it's either attacking something it's seen in the window or it's scented something inside and the window seems the best source of entry.

My guess is going to be that the reflection from some light source allows the badger to see himself. He thinks it is another badger and decides to attack that #%^&*(() other badger!!-lol I would actually guarantee that is what the problem is. If I were you I would do something to the window to make it very hard for the badger to see his own reflection. Perhaps smear mud on it? Probably from his angle the moon hitting the glass causes him to see himself?! - This is funny but only because it isn't my window- I am sure it is very frightening and I think it is possible for the window to break and then a whole new set of problems could develop- Don't give up this is definitely solvable - good luck -k-

He's trying to enter your room thru the window. Badgers aren't that intelligent. And he doesn't know what a glass is, in his world it doesn't exist. He thinks there's no glass between him and your room so he keeps trying to jump in. Best thing to do is put some drapes over your window or a sticker in the middle of the glass that he can see to give him an idea that there's something in between.

He is probably seeing his reflection and attacking it. I would call animal control and ask for their advice before the badger breaks your window.

In fifth grade, my last pair of contacts tore in my eyes (I have no idea how it happened) and I had to go to school without them. I didn't walk into a GLASS door/window, but I walked straight into a pole, because my eyesight is really bad.
