Since cricket is a game of uncertainties as has been proved on number of occasions, nothing can be predicted for sure as to which country will win a particular tournament in advance.
As it stands now Australia, South Africa, New Zeland and Sri Lanka are the main contenders for the world cup. Whichever team plays better cricket consistently from now onwards will be the ultimate winners

Well Australia is favourites but I dont think they will do it again.
Sri Lanka are good and so are the South Africans.
The thing is it is going to be on the day of the final who brings their best game. Sri Lanka have been beaten by the South Africans so I think the only team capable of beating the Aussies are the Proteas.
They were number one before the tournament but have surrendered that place with a scare against Bangladesh.
My predictions: 1. Aus 2. Sri Lanka 3. South Africa 4. New Zealand
Aus will beat NZ in the first semi and SA beat Sri L in the 2nd semi.
SA vs Aus in the final will be a classic and I think SA will snatch it

I believe that the only 3 teams that stand any chance of winning are Australia, South Africa, or New Zealand. New Zealand may have had a recent loss but still look very likely to be big threats with the likes of oram and vettori. South Africa are in red hot form although will have to be at their best to beat in my opinion the world champs , Australia.

Australia seem unstoppable as they are the only team that has won all its matches so far. However, any of the top four teams are capable of lifting the trophy. Sadly, England don't have what it takes to win it as they are unlikely to even make it to the semis.

i've had my share of doubts on sri lanka but there are getting hot. they are getting hungrier by the second to win the cup. they may still struggle in the future but i can't be more proud of them right now. let's hope they are really hungry in the final.
(reliving the 1996 celebrations.....ahh.....the time when i got goosebumps over aravinda de silva's drives)

Well,If you ask me this question,I would certainly bank on Sri-Lanka.With the type of mix they have got between batting ,bowling and especially their fielding,i Just cannot fathom them losing the world cup.
