There were a number of women that were accepted to the astronaut training program in 1960. As someone already pointed out, women were not allowed to be military pilots, so these women were civilian pilots. This website lists the women and discusses their role:

This is a link to a book about the women who helped get the 12 Apollo astronauts to the moon:

For the most part, women didn't walk on the moon because of the role they played in society at that time. But NASA currently has many women astronauts, such as Space Shuttle commander Eileen Collins, who will play a vital role in the return to the Moon.

No women have walked on the moon in fact the total number of people to walk on the moon is very small about 12. you need to put the missions in context.
At the time of the Apollo program only military pilots where selected as astronauts. Military doctrine prevented women from being in these roles, therefore none of the astronauts at this time where women.

Although it sounds like the set up for a sexist joke.....
because there weren't any female astronauts in the missions to the moon.
Bearing in mind that the last one was in 1972 and there wouldn't of been that many (if any) women in suitable scientific positions.

Dunno, but some ideas :
1. There are no mirrors on the moon.
2. There are no shops on the moon
3. They haven't invented a zero gravity toilet for ladies yet. ( They would have to build a double toilet anyway, as women always go in pairs. )
4. They don't accept credit cards on the moon.
5. But what would she wear on the moon ?

they have. There are also women working on the space station. But there were not many going to the moon, because there were just not many women who particularly wanted to. I mean, look at the large number of little boys who say they want to be an astronaught compared to the minority of girls.
There were, however, a number of women who played vital roles in the mission from here on Earth.
