Yes. If you go into the registry (Run: regedit), you can edit the values to any number. However, there's a point where Windows wil display a portion of the screen, and pushing the cursor against one of the edges will scroll to that portion.
You can't see it all at once though.

Yes, you can. If right-click the desktop and then click Properties. Then you click the 'Settings' tab and then when the window pops up, click the 'Adapter' tab. There, you can push the button called "List All Modes". Take some caution though, putting your monitor at too high of resolution beyond what it should be at can make you monitor kick the bucket.

You could consider doing this:
Right click desktop, click properties, click settings. The adjustment for Screen Resolution is at lower left. The adjustments are dependent on the capability of your video card.

a monitor has limitations outlined in it's specs.
a higher-end video card (i.e. more powerful specs) can help to improve any monitor beyond what it has listed down, but don't think that over-exceeding that for long won't eventually wear it out.
