I think the racial double standard in this country is sickening. This whole thing was blown WAY out of proportion. If you listen to lyrics to most any rap song, they refer to women as much worse than "nappy headed hos". Agree or disagree?

agree 100 percent. people make jokes of white people all the time and nothing is said, but say something stereotypical of blacks and its out of line.

Disagree. Serves Imus right -- he's been making racist, derogatory, sexist and homophobic remarks on his radio talk show for years. He should just look at his pathetic self in the mirror -- he is a terribly lonely and unhappy man, because happy people don't try to dehumanize other people. I'm glad the American public has been so vocal about Imus's racist remarks, which ultimately led to his disposal! There's such a thing as karma. Good riddance!!!

I think if Mel Gibson, Michael Richards, the guy from 'Greys Anatomy', get basically a free pass on the racial/sexual pref thing---- then why fire this guy? After all his job title says it all ---'Shockjock'! No one ever seems to take Howard Stern to task on how he demoralizes women on his show--yeah I will admit these women WANT the attention--but still one of his favorite words he uses starts with c and rhymes with hunt..I think America is way too PC--

disagree

people who listens to rap songs are expecting to hear singers saying stuff like that. you don't have to listen to them if you don't want to. you can actually buy non-explicit version of the cd or just avoid some rap songs altogether. this way u won't feel hurt when someone calling u names.

as for Imus case it's different. people aren't ready to hear that on his show. he said those words and calling those basketball players name is just not acceptable. he made a racial and sexist remark, and these remarks hurt the feelings of those basketball players.

I think Imus should get fired for what he said. He is old enuf to know that he is responsbile for his words and actions.

I agree with you 100%. The girls team went to talk to Oprah (talking about blowing things out of proportions) and she asked them: Do you feel like he (Imus) shattered your dream?
Of course they said yes!!
NOW I ASK THE GIRLS: WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU ARE 15-18 YEARS OLD, YOUNG AND RESTLESS, HOW CAN A STUPID COMMENT DO THAT TO YOU?
As if he "raped"you? Man, when I was 16, I ate life and it's content! We were fighters at 16! What's wrong with teenagers nowadays??

no way. listen to comedy central and watch ANY black "comedian". if they were white, saying what they do, they wouldn't leave the stage alive. i agree, the hypocrisy surrounding race in this country is ridiculous. NO, HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FIRED. Jesse Jacka** and Reverend Al have made CBS and MSNBC bow to their twisted hatred. the wimps in charge of CBS and MSNBC should be fired.
