Zambia has much to offer, including many breathtaking bodies of water (Victoria Falls [among 16 other waterfalls] and many different lakes that have probably been here since the beginning of time). There must be 10 various art galleries worth visiting, and since it's Africa, yes, you can go on a safari. View photos of aforementioned attractions:

However, on the safe side, not really. The degree of risk of contracting a major infectious disease is very high (all of them are: [food and waterbourne illnesses] bacterial diahrrea, hepatitis A, and typhoid fever; [vectorborne diseases] malaria and plague in some areas, [water contact diseases] schistosomiasis).
You'll probably be able to speak English here; it is the official language, and major African vernaculars along with 70 other indigenious languages. However, get your shots (hep A vaccines last 15-30 years, and typhoid fever can only be caught from eating food or water that someone defecated in) and avoid drinking from the river and I suppose you'll be fine.

I was working in Zambia about 5 years ago and went to the Falls using public transport from Lusaka. Also went on safari. It is amazing but also incredibly poor. I needed a small rucksack just to carry about £100 worth of their currency. If you are a girl on your own, I don't think it is that safe -in Lusaka, we were certainly advised to go to the hotel after dark. The Falls are incrdible and we stayed in (I think) the Hilton, which was right by the Falls and you could listen to the sound of the water crashing down, while you sip a glass of wine by the poolside. Very nice. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Zambia is beautiful and has fantastic wildlife. It is pretty safe and I would not worry about illness, get the relevent injections and use your common sense. Go-you will have a wonderful time.

Very beautiful. And alot safer than Zims. At least they're trying to get back on their feet again, and not doing too badly.
