Assimilate is hardly the word I'd use. Enslave is a much better one, conquer is even better, since that was most often the actual stated goal of European powers in the Americas. We're talking Columbus to Custer, here.

So they can make their empires stronger. If the European empires weren't competing against each other, then there would be no need to assimilate the indigenous people.

properly there replaced into guns, germ and metal. i imagine the identifying ingredient replaced into that the europeans were extra acceptable at conflict and were marvelous in getting natives to adhere to their orders so as that they could attack different natives. also the psychology of seeing technologies that they had in no way considered before scared natives and the technologies of the europeans regarded like magic. The aztecs of mexico lost because cortez and the spaniards had a militia of fifty,000 (natives) help them. The natives of the U.S. were divided into tribes and ought to were waiting to defeat the europeans in the adventure that they were united. The inca lost because of the psychological impacts of the horses and guns and how they scared them and inabled the spaniards to apply worry to get natives to defeat the inca.

Because they did not understand their life style and beliefs and considered them heathens and savages. Assimilating them would "save" them.

Chow!!

money, cash, bread, simolis, gelt, the moolah,

and assimilation is still the best way to keep people from stealing your stuff and shooting at you, why else would we still worry about trying to bring democracy and capitalism to people who don't want it?

Greed. The Natives had what they wanted so they took it away from them out of pure and simple greed.
