There is little to add to what "more slack" says, apart from an experience I made: Solder tips wear out over time, but for some "cheap" solder irons it can be a frustrating exercise to find a suitable replacement. Make sure you buy a widely available brand name, like Weller or so....

A soldering gun may be more convenient for many electrical and electronic soldering tasks. A well known brand is Weller, and the smaller gun model is the best for light duty jobs.

one ethical way to find a cheap soldering gun is to look online.
just type in "soldering gun" and search it. another good way would be to look on Craig's List. that helps you search for ones in your area.
