If you become a chef you will rarely be unemployed, but on the other hand you will probably never make very much money. Only a few highly trained chefs make good salaries, and they have to work hard.
Most people in food service who make large incomes either have to own the restaurant, or own and operate a catering business. That means you not only have to know how to cook, you have to know how to order supplies, do accounting and bookkeeping, and be a building manager. So, you might want to consider attending one of the culinary arts schools where they teach you more than just how to to turn on an oven.
The two most famous culinary schools are the Culinary Institute of America in NY and Johnson & Wales University, which has several campuses around the country.

My cousin is a chef. He became a general manager in India. Now he is in Scotland as a manager. But he says it is always hard work.

Yes, it's a good choice, provided you enjoy it, as it's a life long job. Some people really enjoy cooking and trying something new all the time, if you do the same then this is the right choice.
