I have already had surgery eight years ago for cysts on my ovaries and now I am frightened I'm going to have to have it again

Most ovarian cysts are harmless. You don;t need to get them removed.

That sounds pretty small but the only way to find out for sure is to talk to your dr about this. If you feel like surgery is imminent then get a second opinion to be on the safe side but preferably from someone that does not share the same office as the dr that you currently see.
