Any new app that is installed on my computer can not access internet. Old apps are working fine, new ones or updates to old ones are not able to access internet.

One fine day IE6 stopped working. So I uninstalled IE6 and upgraded to IE7. Few days later IE7 stopped. I was left with Firefox and Opera. Then one night WinXP downloaded security updates, next morning after using net for around 2 hours both FF and O9, stopped working. I could still voice chat and chat using Gtalk. So I rolled back on the XP updates. I could browse again using all my browsers. But new apps do not connect to internet.

I used to have norton firewall+antivirus. Which was uninstalled sometime after FF had stopped working. I have done multiple virus checks - all clean. Any clues?!!

Another thing, I can ping, BUT I can not telnet - since I never used it before this problem arrised. It's like all apps seeking internet permission for the first time are blocked by default.

I got the same problem few days ago. Internet Explorer couldn't connect to the Internet. I scanned my computer with Zone Alarm Security Suite and it found no viruses or spywares. But Zone Alarm Antivirus update was able to connect to the internet and update the virus definitions. I rescanned my computer and it found a virus. If it is the same problem with you, then check the following directory if it contains the following files:
Directory: C:\Windows\System32
Files: 1- fooool.exe
2- explorer.exe
These files are hidden files, so you have to show hidden files in Tools -> Folder Options -> View.
I didn't try to delete them myself, so i don't know what are the results if you delete them manually.
Hope this works.

truly you would have the glaring. a pandemic or some malware it really is on your device. examine for the proxies as which will take in elementary words a 2d. If that dose no longer pan out you ought to get carry of Malwarebytes do a glance for on yahoo and it really is between the first web pages (no longer positive bout the paid spots) Run an entire test with this and an anti virus to be positive your no longer contaminated.

First, it is my understanding that you should only have one anti virus program. They can conflict with each other. About the new apps not working, I am wondering if you need to delete all except the one you use. Hope this helps.
