Other download some Windows ping program or

Click on the start menu, choose Run. Then type in CMD.

You get a command prompt, that looks like DOS, but is not really DOS (If you typed in Command instead CMD you get true DOS).

Type ping [IP number]
eg
PING 192.168.1.98

or even a web address
PING www.yahoo.com

Many sights block pings, so pinging yahoo probably won't work. Ping is good if you are pinging an IP number within your own network.
