I am very content with my job as an apartment manager.
I love to help people, which I get to do a lot as an apartment manager. One example, when tenants fall behind in their rent, I'll work with them to make a payment schedule that works for them, and I'll suspend late fees to help get them back on their feet.
Most people work either inside or outside, I get the best of both worlds! I work in the office taking phone calls, filling out paperwork, etc. I work outside doing yardwork. I'm not chained to anything particular which gives me a lot of freedom in my job.
No two days are ever the same because there is such variety in my job. It's never routine.
I get to hold fun community activities such as an Easter egg hunt or a Halloween party.
I don't have a boss around the whole time I'm at work like most jobs. They drop in maybe 20 minutes a day, and not even every day. My bosses know I work my tail off, and they also know I'll gladly work anytime the need arises. But I do have some awesome bosses, too, which helps a lot.
Don't get me wrong, my job is not all roses. Sometimes I have to come down on a tenant who won't work with me on rent or is not following the rules, and it can get ugly. Sometimes I have to deny applicants which is never easy as I get yelled at, threatened with a lawsuit, or they cry.
You have to be a strong person to be an apartment manager and expect the unexpected and be ready to handle anything when it comes at you. I give 110% at my job and get back 500% in satisfaction.
I believe job contentment really depends on how much effort you put into making it content. Be creative and make it fun in a way that works for you as well as improve the job you're doing. Bosses love employees who go the extra mile without being asked. Most of what I do, is what I enjoy doing such as the community activities, and I'll do little improvements and decorating around the office and outside. Find what you like to do and apply it at work.

No, I live 100 miles from my office, and it presents a problem if my office computer needs a reboot on weekends. During the week there's someone to do it at the office, but no one works on weekends, so I either have to make the drive, or wait for Monday. Otherwise, it's great. I work at my house, on their computer, over the internet. Don't have to leave home, still get paid. And the boss is a dream.

Absolutely not; I would prefer to be independently wealthy. Do you have a way for me to do that for only a few hours a week in my spare time from home?
