SEC is the better conference top to bottom. The best teams in the big 10 may compete with the best teams in the SEC, but after that the athleticism of the SEC dominates the big 10. What hurts the SEC in the polls every year is the style of play in the conference. The SEC plays the best defense in the country, and defense wins. They just play each other all the time and end up with boring to most scores of 17 to 14.With the exception of Florida, most schools run a conservative offense. I am unbiased, I'm a Texas A&M fan. The Big 12 is as good as the Big 10, but not the SEC.

Are you kidding? There is no conference in football like the SEC. Look, you dont win the SEC, you survive it. Its a war of attrition and whoever is left standing gets the glory. I say screw the national playoff and just have an SEC playoff and that is your national champ. All these idiots that get paid to try and tell me every year how good the Big Ten is or the Pac Ten or the MAC or Big East are a JOKE!!!! All I heard all year was Ohio State this and Ohio State that.......OH Damn! You mean we have to play an SEC team? Uh Oh! And Im not even a Florida fan so dont get that twisted. Please quit trying to compare any other conference to THE conference. Florida winning vindicated the Auburn team of a few years ago when they got SHAFTED. They better hope that they dont ever have a playoff because the final four will be all SEC teams. I take that back, theyll figure a way to shaft us so all the SEC teams were in the same bracket or something... All that said......SEC ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!! GO DAWGS!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way...All you USC fans, if you want to compare apples to apples, try scheduling Florida or Georgia, or Tennessee. No doubt you have had some good teams, but who do you REALLY play? Oregon State? HAHAHA.

SEC look at all the good teams in that conference the Big 10 has only a few quality teams where the SEC has alot of quality teams and the Florida Gators whipping of the Buckeyes 41-14 i think showed who was the powerhouse

To all the Big Ten contributors: The question must have been misread by all of you. It asks Which "is" the biggest powerhouse. It did not ask Which "do you wish could be" the biggest powerhouse. Ohio State has never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game.

The Big 10 hurts itself by not having its power schools play SEC power schools in the regular season.Joe Paterno learned that lesson years ago, and he routinely schedules them (UT, LSU, ALA). The 'athletic' defenses in the SEC cause huge problems when you can' t smimulate it in practice and don't face it in games.
I'm an SEC guy, but I have a lot more respect for Big 10 sports than I used to.I think once they adjusted, the top-tier Big 10 schools would do just fine in the SEC. Same goes for PAC-10 or Big12 or Big East. See, here's the thing: if you have the will to be good, and you are playing top competition, then you get better. OSU had a cakewalk year, while UF had to fight for every win. UF was so mentally tough that OSU didn't stand a chance. Now, if OSU had been tested each and every game...see my point?
Fire Jim Delaney, get a playoff going. NOW.

The way i look at it I will have to say the SEC even though i hate it. By far has 8 teams that are in the hunt or one step away from the national championship. But that doesnt mean they have the best team. That would have to go to USC part of the PAC 10. It has to do with quality and not quantity sometimes... I like to look at it with a 10-point rating system
Pac 10: 10 (USC), 8, 6,6,5....
SEC: 9,9,9,8,8,7,6....
In the last 5 years who has dominated the SEC? USC... 167-48, 4-0 (Auburn & Arkansas not exactly the lower tier of the SEC) Bring it Florida!

SEC is so much more intense than the BIG TEN. Have you ever been to a Florida vs. UT game? The noise and the rumble is enough to scare or NFL players. With SEC speed and strength, SEC will crush THE BIG TEN. Look what happened to Ohio State. Over hyped pansies. I am, however, a Michigan's fan so I like both SEC and BIG TEN equally.

SEC is the better athletic conference. Big Ten is my favorite conference because my Ohio State Buckeyes are in it. The SEC won both National Titles, but the Big Ten sent a team to both Title games. Michigan and Ohio State are probably the 2 most well known colleges in the country besides USC.

sec hands down. thats why were lucky to have a team to make it to the national champion ship. we keep knocking each other out. no other conferance does that. no conf can come into the sec and do nothing we own. we showed it in the bowls. we showed during the season. so big 10 is second and close but sec is just the conference to watch cause its all about the defense thats why we cant be beat.

Everyone last year said how good Ohio State was. Until they played Florida, and it really showed how slow they were. The Big Ten has OSU, Michigan, and Penn State every few years. SEC has Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, and LSU. One can make an arguement that some of those teams have so-so seasons every fews years. But Florida, LSU and Auburn have great years, every year.
