Sometimes.
It can be very relaxing and soothing for both you and the pet. It works best with our cats and our Lhasa Apso. It's a lot harder with my black Labrador Retriever.

I pick up my cat and hold her like a baby and pet her belly sometimes. She's mostly an outdoor cat so she doesn't take it so well. When she was younger she would take both paws and smack me in the face with her claws retracted. Now she just smacks me in the face with one paw and I'm supposed to get the hint. I do, but I would still like to cuddle with my cat lol.

I have a fat little calico who will ONLY let me do it. She doesn't allow anyone else to hold her like a furry baby. Just me. *lol*
*shnuggles with his kitty*

Yes! My cat loves it when I do that, and she always likes getting a belly rub while I do it too.

'Scuse me?? I never had a furry baby! HA HA! BUT YES OF COURSE! Aren't our pets an extension of US? 'Course, you wouldn't wanna name your kid Stinky, or FooFoo, or IttyOne.
