Actually, Jordan only started winning when Magic and Bird were on their way out. Yes, he beat Magic's Lakers in 1991, but Magic, Scott and Worthy were hobbling in the Finals. Additional fact: Jordan's Bulls were 0-6 in playoff games versus Bird's Celtics, and 0 and 2 in playoff series matchups against Boston.
In the 1990s, however, Jordan dominated the league, which was at that time stronger than it is today. I don't see Kobe's dominance however. Yes, he's scored a lot, but he hasn't won anything - notwithstanding his 3 rings (which he got due to Shaq's dominance).

1989-1990 Champion Detroit Pistons are not called the 'Bad Boys' for nothing. They would pull you down when you get up and not get called for any foul. Can you do that nowadays? The answer would be a thunderous no. Today's NBA play is too much loose on defense you extend a hand you get called for hand check. 80's NBA motto was like 'no blood no foul'. Remember that Jordan overcame these odds and averaged 30 ppg. Kobe is averaging 30 + ppg today but that's playing on a league of relaxed defense. Anyone who says Kobe is better than what Jordan achieved probably doesn't know NBA Basketball 101.

That statement of yours is absolutely true! That point is even being made by sports writers. In this one article read, it said that because the TIMES have changed, defense it easier today. It said that Kobe wouldn't be as good as he is right now if he played against the defense of yesterday. Each generation has their star players. It is true that Kobe Bryant is the most talented star of today, but he will never match up to the amazing ability to break down seemingly unstoppable defense and all around playing of Michael Jordan. The NBA today is not as difficult as Jordan's time. he players back then played really hard and so well. Though it is true that Kobe is great, he did in fact play in a weaker NBA than Jordan did. I praise you for spreading this.

i also grew up during that time and some of my all-time favorites and some of the best to ever play the game came from that period of time in basketball. but i also think that people should recognize talent when they see it. players don't have any control over who they played. and to think about it kobe played against all the players mentioned above. so the era is not that much different as it may seem! when making a point be realistic and stop showing your bias because you may not like or care for a player(kobe). great players rise to the occasion and it would'nt matter what era kobe played in he would still be great, period. also we forget the criticism that these same players once faced. respect each era of basketball the same. the atheletes in today's game would crush the atheletes of yesterday. kobe in all honesty, as well as the other top nba players, face tougher competition on a nightly basis then MJ. Who did MJ have to face?even on the list mentioned above the only other 2 guard mentioned is reggie miller! and really think about it. the average 2 guard size when MJ entered the league was probably 6'2 maybe 6'3. nobody had the atheleticsm to match up with MJ. Kobe faces players with equal talent but it's his drive, just like MJ to be the best , that seperates him from the pack! rules of the game had changed but they changed for a reason. because the atheletes changed. and that's always the case. atheleticsm changes rules. and also of that list of players who were mentioned how many of them with the exception of MJ have more rings then kobe? i'm not saying that kobe is above criticism, nobody is! but criticize fairly, and not biased! every player that has ever played has a flaw! and it's funny how when MJ was in the league nobody said he was the best all around player in the league. they just simply called him the best! scottie pippen even was called the best all-around player in the league at that time. now everyone has short term memory!

I believe the NBA is much weaker than it was during that time. Each one of those players would be a dominate force in todays league. Hands down Jordan was the best. Kobe who?

I agree with you 100%. In my opinion you can count the real superstars on one hand today, where as the list you have above is a good sample of the players Jordan dominated on a nightly basis. There will never be another MJ

I agree with you... and if someone says your biased they must not have watched basketball back then... I was born in that era... basketball was played with a different intensity and a whole different level than it is now...
