You can't tell just by that. I had that for a couple of years before I got mine. The best way to know when you will get your period is to ask your mom when she got hers. It's similar in most cases. Just enjoy the time you have w.out it!

Perfectly normal, unless it looks like cottage cheese, is green or grey, or you're really itchy with it. If you've got any of these symptoms, it might be some sort of yeast infection, so you should see a doctor. Yeast infections usually aren't big problems except that they are annoying as all heck with the itching and stuff and it is way better to get it treated!
About your period and the discharge thing. I had discharge for four years before I started, although I'm definitely at the longer end of the spectrum (and I probably didn't start my periods because I was underweight, but that's a different matter altogether). Usually you get discharge for somewhere between one and three years before your first period, but it can be anywhere from about three months to about four years.
Check with your mother when she started (or your mother's mother, your grandmother) and your father's mother (your other grandmother) or any aunts on your father's side when they started. Work out the average. For example, my mother was twelve when she started, but my grandmother on my father's side was sixteen. And I started when I was fourteen. But that's only an average, you could start sooner or later than that.
If you're getting discharge, I'd suggest wearing panty liners, just in case, and keeping a supply of pads or tampons near you (a packet at the back of a drawer in your room, a couple in your locker at school, take a couple with you if you go away) because if you do start your period soon, or unexpectedly, it is a PAIN trying to get blood out of your undies! (The best way is to soak in cold water, then wash as normal, if you wanted to know) And you'll feel safer knowing you're prepared.
Also, good luck with your first period! Periods are a pain, they really are (in more ways than one) but you can give life to another human being, which is an amazing and wonderful thing! (And when you start having sex, they're a sign that you haven't gotten pregnant, which is also a useful thing to know)
But don't be too eager for it to start, seriously.
(Oh, and by the way, just a word of advice. If you get period pain, take some ibuprofen - with food, because it can give you a stomach upset otherwise - not just paracetemol, and relax with a hot-water bottle and a good book. Ibuprofen helps the muscle stop spasming, which is one of the causes of period pain, but paracetemol just eases the cramping. The heat of the hot-water bottle is soothing, and the book takes your mind off the pain!)
P.S. Sorry this reply was so long!

I'm 12 too. I get discharges usually a few days before, even after I had already gotten the punctuation!!! You'll be getting it soon, but you never know because when I was nine, I bled for a few days and came back two years later. Also when you first get it, for about the first two years it's not normal. I get mine every two to three months, but it's pretty consistant, just far apart. It sucks too, so don't be sphyced about it like I was! Good luck!!! You can also read the American Girl Puberty Book. It tells you a lot of info.

Yep, you're probably going to get it within a year, maybe sooner, maybe a little later, but its definitely coming. Your body is preparing itself. Just to be on the safe side, I'd use panty liners and if it feels thicker go check, if you see even a spot of blood, you're starting your period and need to switch to pads or tampons immediately so you don't bleed through. At your young age I'd suggest starting with maxi pads, because tampons can be tricky and uncomfortable at first. Keep a couple pads in your bag just in case... don't want an embarrassing moment!

I think it was 12 1/2 when I got mine but one of my girlfriends was over 17 when she got hers. You can sort of tell by breast development and also body weight; over 110 pounds then it is possible for you to get it sooner than most people.
There was a scientific study that identified 106# as the threshold for possible beginning or menarche in girls.

Sweetheart, Just be patient. It'll happen when it happens. 12 is still really young. You could go as long as 14 before your periods start.
Don't stress over it.... While it means you are growing up; and becoming a woman it still is an inconvenience of sorts.

awwwww sweetheart, congrautlations! u will be getting ur womanhood very soon. dont get excited it will be bothersome and irritating at times but itll give u an excuse to eat chocolate!
i remember when i was in the 6th grade and got a brown discharge, a few weeks later i found red blood alll over my panties. it was a very weird day, ill never forget it! i was with my best friend, she made fun of me because i had to carry a purse for the first time to put my pads in! the next week, she got her period for the first time! we are still best friends and we are almost 19! but goodluck sweetie and a good advice is use pads and not tampons if ur a virgin, its important because tampons will rip ur virginity tissue and it will HURT! good lcuk!!!!!
