If you had it how long did it last and what was your worst outcome?

my best
friend just had her baby and she claims she is ok but I know she isn't.
Here are her signs I wrote down from Observing her.

1 Being overly worried about the baby.

2 Feeling sad and crying alot.

3 Trouble focusing, remembering, and making decisions

ok so is there anybody who had bigger problems then this?
Im due in august myself and I ready for the worst.

Well that is nice, its always good to be prepared.

I had postpartum depression for about 4 weeks after giving birth to our son. When my husband would leave I would just start crying, I especially started crying when he called me and I just missed him and needed him. Some of the time I would just start crying, it really sucked.

I was worse of then her. I was always angry at everything there was a few times i had to set my son in his bassinet and leave the room. I just wanted to shake him becuase he would not stop crying. I was so worn out. His father never lifted a fingure to help me once and his father was also spending hours at this other girls house and on top of that at one point i had a 104 degree fever because my uterus got infected it whent up and down for 4 days but stayed at about 103 -104 and his father STILL expected me to do all the cooking and take care of the child while he slept for 10 - 13 hours a day then played video games and whent to work. It only lasted for about a month because my mom started helping me alot.

I to went threw this and I felt if I told anyone they would think I was a bad mother. Finally I cried to my mother. She laughed told me everything was normal then she forced me to go shopping without the baby. She baby sat and I got a much needed break.
Help your friend out. Force her to get away for an hour or so while you get some practice with her baby. Maybe when you have yours she'll return the favor! make sure she knows it makes her normal not that she's a bad mom.

Most probably your friend does have post partum depression. In England they deal with this by using an estrogen patch. PPD is caused by hormonal imbalance. In the US they deal with it by prescribing a anti depressive drug.

It could last for 5 to 9 months.....

Not everyone will have PPD. Just be aware that it can happen and be willing to ask for help

usually the baby blues shouldn't last more than tow weeks, or there is a risk to develop ppd, so if the blues last more than two weeks she should see a doctor for sure, she doesn't have to suffer alone .
i had ppd after giving birth with my first child i was on medication and i started to feel better after one month and i got over it after one year .

ok after my daughter i did suffer from ppd because the hospital I had her at tried to kill her, its scary but true so the whole experience got to me, if you are worried about ppd u can ask your ob for medication now so if it does happen you wont feel it, remember child birth is trauma to the body for some reason I find it odd but thats what i heard, I tried zoloft after my daughter was born and it made me poop myself so i wont take that again, a long time ago i had a doctor give me white pills and it made me feel wonderful it made me not care, i cared for my son but the small things never got to me at all, but because i was underweight he stopped giving it to me. another natural remedy is vitamin b that helps elevates moods and going outside.

as for after having my daughter i was crying 24/7 i was always tired, I never wanted to hurt her i was upset and depressed because i never got to breast feed her. because of the tramatic experience i told my husband to watch me carefully, i heard all these sick stories and freaked out. good luck and if you need to talk more email me,
