DIFFERENT...
pull up a seat. okay... think of it this way... hip hop is a culture. and rap is just a certain part of that. hip hop is considered to have 4 elements. sometimes 5.
1. mcing - rapping
2. breakdancing
3. graffitti
4. turntablism
5. and the questionable 5 is beatboxing...
so yeah. rapping is just spitting or rhyming. but hip hop is more of a culture. that it culminates all those elements i mentioned above. hopefully that helps out.
--
By the way people dissin rap/hip hop needs to be more educated... why do heavy metal artists get away with stuff that rappers do? ask yourself them questions for those ignorant people who wanna diss rap. ROCK ARTISTS USED PROLLY MORE THAN MIRU*ANA AND THAT ANGEL DUST the way they treat women. and their violence... etc.
but yeah i hope i answered your question

I consider KRS-One in Rap being the music and Hip Hop being the subculture. i do no longer circulate so a techniques as him to declare what's Rap and what isn't nonetheless... Hip Hop politics are retarded. each and every so often i visit apply the observe HH for Rap, yet for my section, that's all the music. There are categories of Rap, in simple terms like there are categories of Rock, yet homicide, gangs, and poetry are all in the comparable sort. that's Rap. Andre 3K: I met a critic, I made her **** her drawers She stated she theory hip-hop develop into purely weapons and alcohol I stated "Oh hell naw!" yet yet that's that too you won't have the ability to discrimi-hate reason you executed study a e book or 2

Rap is the black sheep of the r&b family. Rap is also considered to be the mean, ugly, un(der)educated, bullying cousin of Hip Hop.

Rap: a more gritty, dirty, street style (eg. Young Buck, Young Jeezy..)
Hip-Hop: softer sound, more like the dance music you hear in the clubs (eg. ying-yang twins, 50 Cent's "Just a Lil Bit")
