What's happened to Hockeytown? Where's the buzz? Most people in the D didn't even know the playoffs started today.

I saw a total of 4 Redwings jerseys all day. Where's the stupid car flags?

My guess-- We're spoiled.

The Tigers are more exciting because they came out of nowhere and you can actually get tickets to a game for a resonable price.

The Pistons kicked some *** during the lockout and you can actually get tickets to a game.

The Redwings are expected to win the cup every year or we suck. Nobody is saying the Pistons or Tigers suck. I'm tired of Detroiters writing the Redwings off.

What gives? We aren't baseballtown.

I think it's because we've become spoiled and are used to them being in the Play Offs for so many years that we don't have the urgency to get up and going until the Second round. I personally don't feel that way I watch every game I can. Another reason is Good Competition with the Piston Play Off run.In all Reality which do you think is more popular in the Detroit area?Plus you have the Tigers playing the Lions getting ready to put together a Team and start training. It just comes down to being SPOILED! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Redwing fans have become spoiled. First round playoff games don't seem to matter to some. Reminds me a bit of the Atlanta Braves winning the division all those years in a row and in the last three or four years of their reign having empty seats during the opening round.
Last few seasons I've been disappointed by the lack of knowledge of some that sit in the lower bowl. It's obvious they are there on someone else's dime as a guest.
To see the real Red Wing fans, go to a road game. That's the type of fan they need at JLA.

Three problems:

1. We've tanked three years in a row. There is no longer that feeling that we WILL win. "MIGHT" win does not get people excited. If the Wings move past the first round, this will change. I don't think people are spoiled. I think the opposite. The Wings have a lot to prove. You don't get respect for free. You have to earn it.

2. Ticket prices are ridiculous. That is not winning the Wings a lot of respect in the poor town of Detroit. They didn't even sell out last night, and it wasn't lack of interest. $99 to sit in the nosebleed section? Give me a break.

3. No Yzerman. No Shanahan. These were the biggest names on the team. Zetterberg and Datsyuk need to prove their playoff worth. If they do, you'll see people start to talk about the Wings a LOT more. Until then, Lidstrom is perhaps the greatest defenseman of our time... but he is quiet and unassuming. The personalities on the team need to make a splash to generate talk.

I moved out of Michigan, and got cable JUST for the wings. I saw that all the games will be televised.

But I agree, it's really like the wings are supposed to make the playoffs, so it's not big deal.

Once they get past the first round it will start picking up.

I mean, remember (97 I think?) when they wont the first cup? 2 out of every 3 cars (including cop cars, fire trucks, ambulances, utilitiy vehicles, etc) had one of those red wing flags.

It will for sure pick up if we make it to the second roiund and beyond.

First of all I'm a Penguins fan but i just want to say that Detroit isn't the only place where that happens. I live between Pittsburgh and Philedelphia and am within a 4 hours drive of five NHL teams and at least 3 AHL teams and do you know how many Jerseys I've seen all week? 1 when i look in the mirror. It is a sport (unfortunatley) on a decline in the U.S. but that is because mos people have never heard of the VS. channel.

Its becasue no one can go to the games, the tickets are $85 for the nose bleed seats. Its crazy, I love the wings but they have to take care of the fans. Most games are usually sold out, its starting to make us look bad.

I am not the hardcore wings fan I used to be. At one time, it mattered, not I just watch, but it doesnt matter that much to me anymore. I have always been a fan, back to 1975. IO watched game 1, and must say, the wings surprised me. They seem to be playing with heart, and desire, which hasnt seemed to be there before. Just my point of view, I know alot of people would disagree.
