The Sabres rolled over the Islanders tonight. They out shot and out scored while playing a relatively clean game (fewer penalties). A lot of people are expecting Buffalo to crush the Isles, and this was a good first outing for the series.

The Sabres definitely had a convincing victory, but they were still tied at 1 midway through the first period. I think the Wings and the Sens dominated their opponents more.

The Senators kinda let the foot off the pedal late in the game after they were up 6-1. Not a big deal, but complacency at any point in a seven game series should concern you a little bit. They gave up two goals when it didn't matter at all. I don't think it will happen again, and I still think the Sens got into Fleury's head bigtime.

But my vote for most dominant goes to the Red Wings. They came out playing like they had something to prove. They outshot the Flames 46-20. That's a lot. They took a 2-0 lead early, and after that the game was never in serious danger. Watching that game you are like WOW the Flames have no chance do they?

Plus, the Red Wings are the Red Wings. The Flames are an 8 seed, and that has to get into your head a little bit. It's gonna be very hard for Calgary to convince themselves they can win the series.

Ottawa was the most dominant team. They made up for Emery's poor goaltending by getting a 3 goal lead early, and only allowing Pittsburgh 5 shots through 2 periods. As a Penguin fan, it frustrated me. Every time the Pens got momentum, Ottawa would score a goal. They really didn't mount any type of offense until garbage time.

The most dominant player was probably Chris Drury. Two goals, and got Buffalo kick-started.

Dominant player - Chris Drury of the Sabres.

Dominant team in game one - The Red Wings.

Happy? LOL

I am a huge Calgary Flames Fan.... which is why this hurts!!!
The Detroit Red Wings were easily the most dominant team in round one. they had forty six shots and had it not been for kipper the game would have been 12 -1! Pavel Datsyuk was the best player of game as he flew all over the ice . Pavel could have easily had a hat trick. Plus Detroit grinded Calgary into nothing!! If Pavel Datsyuk continues to pkay this way he may end up with the conn smyth!!! Not to mention Detroits defence was amazing !! Iginla 0 shots . I have to tip my hat to the Detroit Red Wings in game 1.

Ottawa. That game was not nearly as close as the score made it appear. Pittsburgh looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off for most of the game.

Buffalo and Detroit are both a close second. They looked confident and unbeatable.

A lot can change after one game, though, so I wouldn't hype up game one that much. Blowouts are almost always followed by either a REALLY tight game... or another blowout for the OTHER team.

Ottawa definitely kicked the crap out of the Pens for the first and second period. But the Pens are a VERY young team, and they got into the playoffs by winning freakin shootouts!

The Redwings completely dominated the Flames. they had absolutely no chances at a goal. they only got their 1 goal because the Wings got a little cocky.

Sabres did well too.

My answer is the Wings!

The officials were the most dominant in the first game. They almost single handedly determined every contest on the first night with blown calls.

Most dominant single player??? like it has to be asked. Roberto Luongo stopped 72 shots including stoning the Stars on a 5 on 3 powerplay in the 2nd OT

Of all the games I watched so far, I would have to say Ottawa. They had speed, they made some good cycles, but most of all they came out ready to play and had the desire. As a Pens fan, I was highly disappointed with the play of the Pens. They were straight up out played by the Sens and I'm big enough to admit that.

Hopefully Pgh will make some major adjustments and come out running on all cylinders tomorrow afternoon...

As for player - I would have to say Drury from Buffalo...

Let's Go Pens!!!

I'm a Canucks fan but I'd have to give this one to...

Buffalo Sabres

They looked amazing in Game One
and I'd definitely give the best player to

Chris Drury
