Hey I really am curious because they were talking about it on the radio today. It really doesn't matter to me, though I wonder what all the fuss is about. Okay, Howard Stern wants to rig American Idol and that's unfair. Unfair but entertaining!

I find several things interesting in this situation:

1) That someone not having a great performance once or twice or an infinite number of times can cause some people to call for his head, figuratively.
2) That it can cause some people to go to great lengths to try to get him off the shoe (i.e. hunger strike).
3) That the influence of young female voters and looks of the contestant is great.
4) That people can be easily influenced to vote for a less-than-great contestant because of Howard Stern or a website.

Well, I think it does defeat the purpose of American Idol, but it also speaks to the power of Stern that Sanjaya only gets enough votes to stay out of the bottom three, not get into the top. As time goes on, more people will start voting for the good singer, hopefully, and he will get the much needed boot. He truly has no singing ability. My consolation is that so far no one that really had a chance at winning has been voted off. If Melinda, Jordin, or Lakisha go before him, well, Stern will have won, and Idol will lose credibility. People are voting for Sanjaya not because they think he should win, or is even a good singer. They are voting for him out of spite, I guess you'd call it. I think the only thing to do is vote like crazy for the good singers and let the wind carry the chaff, Sanjaya, away.

My wife watches all the time. I used to last year and it was nice both of us watching something together. However, after their start this year and their belittling, and general nastiness to those that were not talented or pretty or " normal".If I wanted to watch people get picked on and humiliated I could find that somewhere else, like a grade school dance or even on the streets in my town. So in essence I must have missed Sanjaya and his travails.

He's a charmer. I never even cared for American Idol, but I like him. He's untalented, but he's just so damn adorable.
