why do so many black people justify being poor, and all other problems on the fact that their ancestors were slaves?
I understand that when the black slaves were freed, it was very hard to become something great (rich and prosperous)....but the fact is that if you apply yourself it is possible.
Look at the Jews....their ancestors went through brutal brutal torture...and yet....so many of them are rich, prosperous, and extremely influential on society, politics, and science.
so...why cant those black people accept what happened....and move on??
believe me, i am not racist....i love people of all races......but it seems to me that many blacks just love to justify a crappy living situation due to the fact that their ancestors lived in slavery.

I'm not sure. There are some black people that seem to have it together. I think they are the ones who feel they must earn their own way on their own merit, not be handed something just because they are black. Then there are those who feel everything should be handed to them just because some great great relative was enslaved. These are the ones who will never accomplish anything. They can't or won't get over it and get on with it.

I agree with you. I think it has alot to do withthe fact that they are in america, Jews have the advantage of color, they can blend it without being obvious. They were educated for centuries.
Most blacks in America were denied education for centuries and i think that the importance of education is getting accross. The pull of hiphop and sports is so strong fooling them into thinking they can get rich overnight.
You have to give them some credit for what they have achieved. Its not all doom and gloom. They are rising, not at the pace alot of people would like to see.
Can you imagine what 400 yrs of slavery does to the human psyche? I do hope that we will be in a much better place 400 yrs from now.
I am confident it will show a people against all odds, persucution and oppression making it through, to remove the scorn and the shame of slavery on an entire race.
Look what happened to the native indians, they have basically disappeared. the black race is doing very well i think.

The Jews trump ALL!! I am Black and couldn't give 2 sh*ts about how my ancestors lived prior to myself. But then again I am not from this country. I classify myself as Black and I am FAR from lazy and I am doing some real nice things. I dont live crappy AT ALL LOL...
Stop the GROUPING!! Not everyone cares as much as you. JUST STOP THE GROUPING AND GENERALIZATIONS!!
You wouldn't get far with this!
You must be a Jew!?

I don't hear about the slavery thing and I'm from the South (originally). I hear about slavery from whites who say blacks use slavery as justification for whatever.
As far as crappy living situations, it's cultural, period. People often follow the footsteps of the culture they live in. Often, poverty begets poverty because people don't think outside of their clan, their family, what they are used to. They might be comfortable in their situation, not realizing they are destitute. They are happy with what they have.
What about white trailer trash? They seem pretty happy. Amidst no teeth and 14 cars in the frontyard, they grin away.
If people are unhappy, they generally change their situation.

black people have to have an excuse to justify their laziness and since this is their tragic pity story, and what works for them then this is the excuse they will continue to use. They don't want to take the time to educate themselves because their own people bring them down if they do. They have to be the poor and uneducated people of all times so in history books everyone reading them will have pity on them and keep blaming the white people for bringing them down like they did so many generations ago. They don't want change.

Black people jusitify being poor because they are treated unfairly sometimes. For example a black has the same level of knowledge and experience and just as trustworthy as the next guy but the white guy gets the job, a high paying job for that matter. I'm not racist either but this is happening a lot.

It's easier to point fingers than to get up an work. I am tired of hearing how the black guys down the road from me have to live on welfare and its my fault somehow. I don't even know them.
