I am looking to find a great college or university. I define great as: 1. Learning environment encouraged, not "Im here to get a degree and I don't care" 2. Variety in subjects and majors, because I am not sure what I want to do for sure yet (more on this later) 3. Good reputation.
I would prefer it to be near a coast (either east or west)
Some possible majors I might be looking for would be: (if the college you list doesn't have all that's ok)
Biology, International Business, International Relations, Nursing, Zoology (I know these are all really different)
Whether you know about a college, or attend a college, any information would be great.

Here are some top-notch colleges all in the United States that are considered the very best on the country:

Harvard, Princeton, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, MIT, Johns Hopkins University, Stanford, University of California at Los Angeles, UC Berkley.

These colleges, especially the first eight (i.e., the Ivy League) are ultra-super competitive to get into, so even with a 4.0 GPA, the competition will still be stiff. But if you do get into any of these great colleges, you should be off to a very good start in life.

Bucknell University is a great school. It has so many different majors that it's mind-boggling, and even if there isn't one that suits your needs, you can create a BRAND NEW one. It is in central PA (not too far from the coast). As for you having a 4.0, it is NOT the only thing that schools look at. I beat other kids into this school because i did other things besides just taking tests and getting good grades. They want to see that you actually have a life and will be able to balance school work with all the new activities you will want to try in school. We're having an open house this weekend (April 14th) if you're interested, or if you're ever on campus, be sure to take a tour and sit in on a class and see what it's like. The campus is gorgeous (if you see a college campus in a movie, it will look like Bucknell), and all the people are really friendly. Everyone is supersmart, and there isn't the extreme competition between students for grades, since even the most bright of students struggle here. There are also tons of activities always going on, and roughly half of campus is involved in Greek life. It is a terrific school, and I hope you are interested! Check out the website: www.bucknell.edu . You can also Wiki it.

There are lots of great schools out there and, since you know where you want to go as far as a coast is concerned, all you need to do is search for schools along the coasts of the US. Everyone knows about the "top" schoos of which there are many, but remember that many more "top" schools are not as known and shouldn't be overlooked.

The best thing for you to do is look more at the programs than the location and to visit the schools. When visiting look into classrooms, see if its possible to sit in on a class or two to see how the students interact with the teachers. This will give you a better idea of how the learning invironment would suit you.

Good luck in the search and congrats on the awesome grades!!!

Most colleges send catalogs to HS guidance counselors. If you are picking for location, go to states that have a coast, then look under universities on their website. When you get that far, look for majors offered. Costs will vary, so look up scholarships and financial aid too.
