Well, I am not sure what you mean by "no taxes" but lower income people and the rich pay taxes in one form or the other. Now the only difference is that lower income people are able to get more govt. benefits and at times I disagree with this. That another story. I just feel that they should contribute too, and hopefully break the cycle one day and try to strive to get out of the lower income bracket.

Everyone should have to pay their fair share of taxes. Lower income people generally do end up getting more money from the government than what they pay in taxes!

It bothers me a lot more when rich people don't pay taxes and I being a middle class joe pay the lion's share. I have always paid taxes, I was an Airman in the air force and I still had to pay taxes. I made too much money to get any help. I would loved to of gotten some free cheese or food stamps but I did not have enought kids. We only had 2. I was about 10 dollars over the limit.
ps last year 2006 I paid over $20,000 in taxes, that sucks

your premis is wrong.. Poorer people pay all the taxes. The rich and land owners adjust prices for thier goods and services so thier income after taxes is still hundreds of times more than average, while the services and goods that you require to subsist are sold to you at prices that are adjusted to cover the 'taxes' of the rich.. The fair tax would be better because it is adjusted on consumption, and both underground and white collar criminals cannot excape the sales tax.. but that is why it will never pass

I don't know how the income tax system works in America but in England it is already possible for a low income, depending how you define it, family not to pay income tax.

Its fine with me. I'm a student and I hardly work but I'm taxed for how much I make and it is FINE with me that people less fortunate than me get some of my money. Why should I care? I don't buy new clothes or have a nice phone but I have food and I'm going to college.

Hell, even if 80% of the lower income people just spend it on drugs and alcohol or WHATEVER it is worth it if the other 20% used it to buy their kids some new pencils for school.

I have a better question. What do you think of several huge American corporations who pay no taxes? Or very wealthy Americans who pay no taxes?

I'm more comfortable with that than with the fat cat billionaires that don't pay any taxes.
