I agree with you. Rap music has such a bad connotation to it, but in reality it is a lifestyle and culture. Most people who don't like rap are the people who don't understand it or don't want to give it a chance. It's one thing to not like and not listen to it, but it's another to not like it and judge it. People make false statements about something that they hardly know a thing about. A lot of rap music is about their lives and struggles. Who are you to judge them for sharing their pasts? All of these people are saying, "Oh, why don't you go listen to country?" In fact, I like both country music and rap music. I'm not going to limit myself to a specific genre, because that's stupid.
In regards to the Imus comment, it's not reverse racism. It's uncalled for and rude, even borderline ignorant. Rutgers basketball team is successful and he calls them "nappy headed ho's?" Who is he to make such a statement? Especially considering that is not is lifestyle, or something that he has grown up with.

All Rap music is not the same I agree with, however come on mate what the heck is your problem.
Do you have no respect for your culture or for your parents/grandparents that must have taken so much crap and been called names with such hatred and even killed and for what.....
For someone to glorify the word for their own gain... Do you see the indian/pakistani/chinese community using their hate words devised.. No because they respect their elders and wouldnt do it.
How does using the n word and bragging about guns and biatches and hos help the black community. ... From what I see in London its really doesnt, they kill each other... Very clever so all the hard work your partents and theirs put in to give you a better life is just wasted.
I could carry on for every about this.. I used to love rap music back in the NWA days and looking back, there is nothing of any use in the music or lyrics Gang rape isnt cool and killing chinese folk cause they open up a shop isnt the best.. Oh and you can hate me know by NAS probably sums the lot up...

I'll answer this one as a musician. Where's the talent? Instrumentally, I can churn out a rap song in no time with s TR-808 and a cheap monosynth in no time flat. As for the vocals, take away the background music and you've got bad poetry. It tends to ignore one of the fundamental elements of music: the note. Even ignoring culture and lyrical content, rap music is an oxymoron.

Funny how you say that and yet Imus was fired for saying basically what rap videos and music say. Its just reverse racism. I have teenage kids and I have hear plenty of it. I do not watch it, buy it or support it. Why don;t you listen to country music????? We complain because a white person gets in trouble for saying something stupid that black people sing about all day long. Get over it, if you don't like Imus or what he says don't listen to it!!!! It goes both ways BRO

Not forcing me to listen to it???? Apparently you don't live in the city....I can't go a single day without my windows rattling in my house because of some idiot driving by, or at a stop light, or a gas station........and they'r cranking it up with their kids in the car!!!! Not only is it bad for their ears, the words leave a lot to be desired!!! Definately not something for small children to listen to......Don't tell me I'm not being forced to listen to it!!

Why do I have to support Tupac by buying his CD to know his music is in bad taste? I got lyrics right here.
I hear the cussing and glorifying of the ghetto life and it's not for me. You go listen to country and like it and I'll consider the switch.
