This was the situation at the beginning of the day. The determination of place is by percent victories, not necessarily number of victories. Cleveland would have been in first with a winning percentage of 0.666, Minnesota and Detroit would have been tied for second with a winning percentage of 0.625.

As of right now they are in second place 0.5 games behind the Tigers and the Twins (who are tied for first)

come talk to me in september, and we'll see if they can maintain that. you have to remember also that they didnt play 4 games they were scheduled too. if they had played they would be in last place now.
