It wouldn't. Those people who smoke dope would still be smoking it, and everything would be more or less the same.

I would suggest, however, that those who try it for the first time, not attempt to drive or operate heavy machinery and DO NOT COOK, BAKE OR PREPARE FOOD when you get the munchies. You might forget and burn your house down.

It would not negatively affect my life, nor would it positively affect my life. I am not a part of that culture.
I do believe there could be some positive medical benefits. Even if those benefits only were to act as a placebo, if it causes the user to feel better, I would not have a problem with it. The pharmaceutical companies are flooding the market with expensive, addictive drugs that cause horrendous side effects, and only help people get to sleep. Seems like a waste to me.
I do believe that making it legal, and taxing it would cut down on some crime, and keep people from being sent to prison for having it in their posession. It can be regulated as alcohol is, and the amount of TCH can be regulated through genetic engineering.
I don't believe it is addictive, and I believe it is less harmful than alcohol. I also believe that what a person puts into their body, is their own business.

it would be positively affected, not only for me but society in general.

kant says you can't lie, for good reason!
- when kids find out dare lied to them about pot, they might be more likely to try harder drugs (btw, the gateway theory has been disproven, except for legal substances like cigs and booze)

utilitarianism (among other things *cough*) is uplifting:
- people who smoke dope are generally more mellow and less likely to physically harm others. the only time people with pot in their system (which, being fat soluable can be months after their last toke) have been known to get into car crashes or other offenses of harm, they had other substances in their system (like coke)
- police would be freed to put their time, money and energy to catching real criminals and the jails wouldn't be as crowded so we wouldn't see rapists and murderers walking out after a matter of months behind bars.
- marijuana has been shown to help with health ailments. the less chemical drugs we have in our system and the less money going to pharma companies the better. it would monetairly benifit the patient as well as insurance companies (and government where there's healthcare)

i had my 420 and the bong is begging to be repacked... i'm sure some other pro-pot people can add mroe points to this list

My life would still be the same.
I have been 'indulging' (in moderation) for about 30 years, and no politician, law or Mother Grundy is going to tell me it's bad for me. Frankly, it's none of their business.
And I am living proof that it's NOT addictive. Haven't smoked for more than three months.
Legalise, educate, regulate and TAX!

If I thought for a moment that people could use drugs responsibly - I would have no problem with what ever anyone snorted, injected, chewed, drank, smoked or inhaled.
Unfortunately, alcohol alone has proved that there are large number of individuals who can't even drink responsibly and the costs to society are enormous.
Why would you want to add another log to this fire?

It would put another smokeable drug on the market; therefore it would seemingly increase healthcare costs, and everyone would end up paying more.

They would also tax it as much as they possibly could, so those who do smoke/eat/vaporize marijuana would probably end up paying more. So yeah, that would suck.

Honestly, the only people I've seen get busted for pot are those who weren't smart about it in the first place. I think people get so casual about it, they forget it is illegal. Just don't go driving around smoking it in your car, thats how EVERYONE gets caught...getting pulled over for speeding and then it goes downhill from there.

It wouldn't, it would be better. I'd be able to relax like I want to again. I miss it. :o( I don't drink...so sue me!

But, since it is something you could easily grow yourself, and the government couldn't really tax all that well...it will never happen.
