Brown is in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown of Providence. Providence is an old city that has had a major Renaissance and has a lovely river walk and lots of activities downtown. There are six other schools within the city and each school has its own character. That means that the city is full of students so there is always lots of art and music . It is just 50 miles of interstate to downtown Boston where there are 100,000 more students, and less than 4 hours drive to NYC. In Fall and later spring you can go to Newport, Cape Cod and the islands off the coast.. There are lots of beautiful areas.

The weather is not a big deal. After all, many millions of people live much further north than RI and survive without any problems. :)

Brown kids really love their school. I think one major survey found that Brown kids were the happiest college students in America. If you are the kind of independent, smart, self-motivated person that Brown wants, you are easily capable of deciding what courses you want to take. I know quite a few profs at Brown and they are all really nice people who care a lot about their students.

Brown is one of the great schools in America. I dont think you would ever regret choosing to attend college there.
